I've inherited a Native Instruments S88 mk 2 (not the current mk 3) keyboard after the death of my brother in law. I don't know whether he ever registered it with Native Instruments, but I wonder whether I would be able to use it anyway.
I use Waveform as my DAW and I know there is no integration with it, like there is with some other DAWs. I don''t want to use Kontakt either.
I have found a driver and a Komplete Kontrol firmware update here for the mk 2
https://www.native-instruments.com/en/s ... her-files/

If I install these would I be able to use the keyboard as a midi input in my DAW foro any VST plugins? I generally use free ones.
Thanks in advance for any responses

There is integration with Waveform

Thanks for your response. I haven't seen that mentioned elsewhere. Do you use it with Waveform? Does that allow the use of Komplete Kontrol software integrating with the DAW?
Thanks

I used mine without KK software (I found it annoying, esp. the colour schemes of the patches). Nothing to lose by trying. As long as your DAW sees the keyboard, the inputs and outputs are set, it should be fine.

Thanks - So would I just need the driver in the link I gave above, not the firmware updater given I don't want to use Komplete Kontrol. Is that how you did it?

It's the same level of integration as in all supported DAWs but not the firmware 2 integration that came out late last year. So you get more than just transport, eg mixer visualisation and control in the keyboard screen, but not the additional benefits DAWS like Bitwig have now.

Of course you can use Komplete Kontrol with it in any DAW
