How about best iLok developer in 2026?
Good idea!
Waves?
Oh, I forgot they are not iLok any more
Soundtoys?
Am not even sure whether Soundtoys is iLok haha
Best one finger preset in 2026 would be interesting, too or best non-sonible plugin or cpu-heaviest plugin in 2026.

No. But a Win vs MacOS vs Linux thread might make sense.
Vendor‑Dependent Copy Protection: Customers lose. Pirates win.
(Also: I'm Accused of lying about Linux—it boots, runs my pro audio workflow, stays stable, updates--though yearly dismissed as “niche”. Yet I'm the deluded one.)

I think the only real question in 2026 is "is there any uncovered territory that still needs to be developed?"
I think there's still room for a good sample manager plugin. I can't think of any must-have FX that I need to be built. Maybe some innovation in the physical modeling space. Other than that, not sure what stones are left uncovered.

Uncovered territory. Korg offers plugins of their synths, Roland offers plugins.
I would be glad if also Yamaha started offering plugins of their synths, the list of not yet released Yamaha synths, they could also add drums, organs, pianos, gear and effects, is long.

The development of industry wide standards, like midi.billinder33 wrote: Fri Feb 20, 2026 2:32 pm I think the only real question in 2026 is "is there any uncovered territory that still needs to be developed?"....
For example - you sample something and can load it in to any product and it will work.
Audio and video proprietary formats should be ancient history.
No translator/conversion needed.
Same goes for hardware such as cables and so on.

Agreed. Good standards exist, unfortunately there's no incentive for compliance.felis wrote: Sat Feb 21, 2026 11:19 pmThe development of industry wide standards, like midi.billinder33 wrote: Fri Feb 20, 2026 2:32 pm I think the only real question in 2026 is "is there any uncovered territory that still needs to be developed?"....
