Folks, just came by to let you know this lovely little jewel is an amazing sounding low pass filter plugin:

ALM MUM M8 DSP

"‘MUM M8 DSP’ is a low pass filter plugin emulating the filter used in the classic Akai S950 12 bit sampler with the addition of resonance, saturation and bit depth reduction. This in turn emulates our MUM M8 eurorack module which uses a similar filter design."

Only $10

Sounds great and yes, a no-brainer at $10. They have 10 other vst effects in collections of 2 each: phsiverbs, digiverbs, dynamics, echos, and modulations. All based on their hardware, sounds great and $10 each. I'm very tempted to get the whole bundle at $40!

If this awesome, juicy, liquid, nasty, gnarly filter plugin is any indication, then I'll need to check out the rest, for sure!

I have all of them, all very good, in particular the tape sim.

Big fan of Motto Akemie too.

Btw: if you buy any of them outside the bundle, you can get the bit crusher by emailing them, likely they'll give it to you free if you bought ANY of their plugins.

The manual of the drum machine says Internet is required for activation, is it the same for the effects?

No, at least not for the filter. It opened, no serial or anything necessary.

No DRM iirc…

Never heard of these people before. Their plugins look cool. Is there a way to demo them? If there is I can't see it.

They're a well known Eurorack brand, have offered some of their stuff as VCV Rack modules (some free, some premium) and started releasing plugins in the last year or so.

The MUM M8 plugin is actually cheaper than the VCV module version...

Unfortunately there aren't any demos of premium VCV modules either. Kind of a bummer because I bought their Cizzle oscillator assuming I'd like it, but I find it pretty meh.

(I'm a big fan of their Akemie's Castle Eurorack module, but that's using NOS Yamaha OPL3 chips, and they haven't tried to emulate it in software... at least not yet.)

Motto Akemie is good, but yea I’d be surprised if it could keep up with the module soundwise. Mostly I like the parameter sequencer.

Bummer about vcv demos.
