Really enjoying the J37. Regarding the Beatles - Sgt Peppers was the J37 and the tube REDD.51 console (REDD.47 preamps) and Abbey Road was a 3M 8 track and the germanium TG12345 - those were the biggest changes in gear but there were lots of small ones too and changes in techniques..

Tube technology had a greater dynamic range, but contributed so much noise . When going solid state they were able to mitigate much of the noise, but lost a lot of the dynamic range in the process.olh wrote: Mon Jan 27, 2025 2:00 pm Those of us who used the C-37 considered all the solid-state tape machines a major step down in transparency until the Ampex ATRs came out.
At least in this day and age both transistor and tube technology is in much better place than it was like 60-70 years ago.

I really want this but the noise is the same no matter the speed or tape model you choose. It's just an overlay with the only control being gain. I know most people don't buy tape plugins for the noise but I do.
I wish they'd update it so it more accurately models variances in noise between different speeds and tape models.

Other than the volume of the noise floor, I've never noticed much a difference in the character of noise in any tape I've used, and the difference between speeds is just volume, with higher speeds being less noisy.tlvid wrote: Wed Jan 14, 2026 10:59 pm I really want this but the noise is the same no matter the speed or tape model you choose. Inflation -- sale price now 59 dollars!VitaminD wrote: Tue Dec 17, 2024 7:12 pm Interesting. I just crossgraded to the FX collection for 50 bucks.
Now they want another 50 bucks for a single plugin. hmm...
Just give us FX Collection 6 and include J-37, Arturia! What is the delay?

Yes it is odd for the lack of a new release on the effects package, considering they have had 3 new effects plugins out for quite some time. J-37 is beyond a year old now even.
I also inadvertently made a pun with 'delay'

Thats accurate to how tape behaved.tlvid wrote: Wed Jan 14, 2026 10:59 pm I really want this but the noise is the same no matter the speed or tape model you choose. It's just an overlay with the only control being gain. I know most people don't buy tape plugins for the noise but I do.

There was no such thing as a control to dial in your noise level to taste, that's why the started putting noise gates on every channel of a mix console. Just so they could tame 24+ channels of desk and tape noise, plus the accumulation of noise from other processors too.

If you don't want Arturia to be in a similar situation like NI in future, you could take some time to make up your mind whether to buy or not, just give them your money and you will even get something in return. Otherwise don't cry when...

Similar boat here. I wanna get this, but, if the update price for V-Collection 11 Pro was any indication, I expect the price to be higher. Not sure how much getting it now would knock off the price.VitaminD wrote: Tue Feb 10, 2026 11:56 pm I'm looking forward to buying, once they release FX Collection 6. Too bad they keep dragging their feet on that..

I like how J37 colors the sound.
