I like the first Blackhole, but the best?
Such a hard to answer question, it is february, there is still time for more releases.
We need more reverbs!

I certainly find myself using it a lot. SoundToys SuperPlate is still real good too.

Ideally I hope to get ahold of the Relab LX480 as well, as that seems to go along with the all-timers.

LX480 sounds good but it's another 'emulation' that isn't because it doesn't have the option to keep the limitations over reverb time. I might be pedantic but it covers every other quirk of the hardware, so why not the stepped decay times? Same for QuantX (now Q82).

You just can't do that. Imagine they would have added this option, I mean LX480 is a holy piece of gear, you can't expect any dev to do that and overstep the line!
Haven't you ever wondered why cS 80 emulations are pretty far from the real thing, but similar and quite nice nevertheless?!
In other words, if you want the real experience, get/buy the real thing.

Do you also expect Champagne to flow from the tap?

Is it really? What makes it better than VintageVerb? I've been using VintageVerb since... forever.
Didn't ever think about replacing it, but I'm curious.

Vintage verb is like a collection of older reverbs. AMS, Lexicon etc. That's great if you're looking for that style. It's a fantastic reverb. I don't necessarily see Futureverb as a replacement since there are times you need something that has more character like VVV.

Valhalla Room is the most neutral Valhalla reverb but can sound a bit sterile.

Futureverb is more like a modern reverb like a Bricasti, much more refined and really musical. But the addition of the delay section with all of its various flavours gives you a lot of options to make it gnarlier if needed.

The reverb algos themselves are pristine, more transparent than Vintage verb. You can route the reverb through the delay or vice versa.

So you get a really top tier reverb that's really easy to use but is enormously flexible.

I think designing reverbs is as much of an art as it is a technical undertaking and I think Sean Costello of Valhalla DSP is one of the best in the business and Futureverb is like a culmination of all those years of experience.

I genuinely think that it's one of the best reverb plugins ever made.

I recently mostly use Pro-R2, and Temperance as general purpose reverbs.
Convolution - only occasionally.
But there are many more niche ones (plate, shimmer, ambience, PianoVerb, etc.)
And I do not do orchestral music. If I did I would probably choose a ridiculously expensive MIR Pro 3D.

I do want to second this as well, it's apparent they put a lot of work into recreating the Infernal Machine and it really does sound great. Along with Blackhole Immersive it's one of those reverbs (and other effects) that I find enjoyable even for just sitting and playing stuff into absentmindedly.

Im waiting on Reverside to come out of beta(the main dev behind cult classics Aether and Breeze and the first reverb I paid for Spin Audio M1/M2). Its so good in its current state but I dont enjoy its WIP GUI. Hopefully release candidate this year

Combination of UAD Hitsville Reverb Chambers and Capitol Chambers.
I've got at least 10 other nice reverbs i can combine,but these two have special bond.
Best is loading three different reverb units for sweet 3d feeling...
