CPU...... 6%

Something sounds wrong.

Same thing on my machine, same specs (1gigmem 3.0c P4), RME card set at 3 ms,

CPU 1% (with Firefox open)

How large a file did you load into Simpler?

it's just a 1sec Trackteam sample from their Live extension CD

running any other apps in the background, firewall? virus checker? Any odd looking proccesses running in Task Manager?

well, I've got kasperski on at the moment but that really shouldn't be an issue

I can happily run 5 audio tracks in FL or Sonar with the CPU not even hitting 2%.. same goes for eXT and it's sampler

in some of them I can even add some effects without a noticable change in the cpu usage

hmmmnnn ... laptop of similar spec (3.2Ghz p4 / 1Gb RAM / XP pro) ...

... same setup (1 simpler / simple MIDI loop / no effects) ...

... live 4 tells me 1% BUT task manager shows between 7% and 14% fluctuating for the live4 process !!!

how are you measuring your CPU there ???

in there it goes to 25%, with live jumping between 10 and 22%

weird ... just tried the same test again (havent shut anything off or opened anything other than a fresh instance of live) ... same sample ... same MIDI loop ...

... live still tells me 1% but now task manager only shows 4%-8% usage ...

12% in FL, 5 to 25% in task manager
