Maybe having a handshake with a server in order to generate the lines is a good way to prevent anyone from successfully cracking it. But really I wouldn't know.

It would be cool if you could save a 1 bar pattern into 1 of 8 memory slots, then use 1 or more of those as component zones in a new pattern of equal or greater length. or something along those lines.
I know you can copy locked zone/zones? from one saved pattern into a new pattern but that's it.

Glad to hear mate, thanks!
It is pretty safe yes. It was also a necessity, because the coding libraries that I use are not available in the programming language of VSTs. Bassliner has the most lightweight licensing system that can exist. As a music producer, I try to avoid bloated piracy protection systems as much as most people.annode wrote: Sat Feb 07, 2026 8:38 am Maybe having a handshake with a server in order to generate the lines is a good way to prevent anyone from successfully cracking it. Ah, I see. You mean this like how Cableguys' ShaperBox has those little memory slots for its shapes?pekbro wrote: Sat Feb 07, 2026 10:42 pm It would be cool if you could save a 1 bar pattern into 1 of 8 memory slots, then use 1 or more of those as component zones in a new pattern of equal or greater length. or something along those lines.

Having problems trying demo in Live 12.3.5 - Not really loading as a midi effect. Only plays after you have generated and focused on instrument track
Please check, fix and respond

Hi Zeph, the Demo (and the Full version) work as regular Effects, they do not load behind VSTi like MIDI effects do. You are going to have one track where you put Bassliner, and then for any number of instruments and layers you can set that Bassliner track as their single MIDI input.zeph wrote: Mon Feb 09, 2026 4:15 pm Having problems trying demo in Live 12.3.5 - Not really loading as a midi effect. On Mac, we do have an AU MIDI FX version as an alternative build for Logic, we may bring alternative VST builds for Windows in the future as well.
I hope this answers the question, let me know if I misunderstood what you meant.

Take a look at AutoBeat, it has 16 slots of 8 bar loops that are triggerable by key note:dreeemwave wrote: Mon Feb 09, 2026 2:51 pm Ah, I see. You mean this like how Cableguys' ShaperBox has those little memory slots for its shapes?

Yeah memory slots like the preset automation shapes available in shaperbox, but in this case they would be patterns of notes of some arbitrary length. Then I could paste them into a new pattern, lock them and generate a new pattern around them.

Interesting ideas! I'd need to be considerate with the complexity of the plugin and its interface, but I'm open to think about this or other features. Wondering if more users feel something similar re if it would be cool to add slots in Bassliner!

Personally, the reason I’ve been hesitant about buying it is because it seems overly simplistic. I don’t think you need to worry about complexity.

There are a lot of years under the hood, here's a quick explanation of the controls in case you want to understand more: https://dreeemwave.com/basslinermanualUncle E wrote: Tue Feb 10, 2026 11:07 pm Personally, the reason I’ve been hesitant about buying it is because it seems overly simplistic. Recently I saw this video on YouTube, it's not a commissioned work (some information is not 100% accurate) and does not include v1.3's Lock Zones which is a major new feature, but it's almost 20 minutes long and an independent review so might worth to check:

Thanks. Yes, I saw that. I hope my comment didn’t offend, I’m just trying to point out that I don’t think adding note triggerable slots would make it overly complex.

Honestly, even a single memory slot would be useful, just so you can generate incorporating parts of 2 saved patterns instead of just one.
Regarding complexity: I am going to prefer complexity over simplicity most of the time.
For instance, I would appreciate more parameters for generating patterns myself.
That said, it works perfectly well as is.

The name generator is cool but can we please get an option to name the patterns ourselves?

It's good that you guys point that out for sure! My reply was just to mention that its simplicity was a conscious decision. The initial 2021 draft was a mess with *a lot* of controls that should've been kept under the hood, friends over at Cableguys helped a lot with UX in that regard. That said, there are users who prefer complexity and more control, and other users who get overwhelmed and prefer a very simple UI. There's no right or wrong, so I always listen to feedback and if something comes up enough or is a great idea, it should be on its way. To be clear and honest, at this moment the focus is on a 303-style option that covers the specific need for 16th-note acid patterns, which are a different beast from regular hooks. So if any more users want to add to the slots or have new ideas, they're 100% welcome and all feedback is encouraged!pekbro wrote: Wed Feb 11, 2026 6:10 pm Honestly, even a single memory slot would be useful, just so you can generate incorporating parts of 2 saved patterns instead of just one.

You can expect this in the future yes!JiggSaw wrote: Wed Feb 18, 2026 6:04 pm The name generator is cool but can we please get an option to name the patterns ourselves?

Changing octaves and then generating new bass lines doesn't work correctly sometimes. If I shift one octave down in the plugin after I did generate a pattern (from 0 to -1) and then I create a new pattern, then the new pattern will be set down by an additional octave (-2 but it still shows - 1).
