I currently have Waveform 11 but have had to buy another computer as my other one was not repairable after a major fault. I'm tempted to try Waveform 13 free rather than just reinstall Waveform 11. Did the new audio engine in version 12 make any difference to sound or was it just Computer efficiency (no bad thing). I'm not sure what other benefits I would get with the free version of 13 compared to 11.
Do you think version 14 is on the horizon? I don't want to buy 13 and then pay for the upgrade again with version 14.
I am always concerned with upgrades that things like VST settings might not be transferred properly. I use mainly 3rd party ones. Peter Widdicombe has kindly confirmed that these are transferred from 11 to 13, so presumably would be to version 14 as well.
My music recording and mixing is pretty basic and it seems many of the new features are for those doing electronic music, which I don't.
Are the people who use the free version happy with it, or do you feel restricted without the Pro version?
I would appreciate your thoughts.

14 should be due this year, although I haven't heard a single thing officially. Would be worth holding out for a bit. Apart from that, can you install 11 Pro and 13 free? 13 is my favorite version, but everyone's needs are different obviously

Is that a thing that actually happens outside of people's imaginations? The day Waveform gets a soundgoodizer attached to the master bus is the day I stop using it. Why do people want an effect they can't turn off?

I would recommend installing both WF11 and WF13 Free. Who's going to remember all the changes over the years? A lot of the big changes are things that I don't tend to care about, like the clip launcher. The small things just become normal.

You can compare the Pro and Free versions to see if the Free version lacks anything important to you.

A number of those things can be purchased as expansions, seen here:

Surely there must be consensus by now...

Thank you both for your idea of installing both. I'll do that. I suspect my basic way of working will mean I don't miss anything in a Pro Version. Pough, I always appreciate your comments but I wasn't suggesting that the sound engine might make songs suddenly sound great! I can't see the point of a lot of features but as dysjoint says, everyone's needs are different.
