Let's name and talk about all sampling tools for all OSes! This is for those of us who want tools for sampling--regardless of if they are commercial, opensource, freeware, etc. Things that would be useful:

* Samplers
* AutoSamplers
* DAW Scripts (For example: Reascripts)
* Sample Looping tools
* Sample mapping tools
* Sample converters
* Documents/tips/tricks
* etc.
* etc.

Let's make this a great thread that people can refer to in the future! :)

The Play module in GRM Atelier is wonderful. So happy it's out on Windows now.

I'm really enjoying Resonic Pro as a sample manager/browser. It's back in active development and should be out of beta this year, although it's essentially finished as it is. There is a generous trial period but I'll be buying before the trial is over as I'm finding it so useful.

Not sure whether this would be the best place to ask, but if anyone has a quick link towards the best resources about how to create a kinda easy to use UI for Decent Sampler, I'd be very interested.

I've got a whole lot of Logic Sampler patches and apparently the basic conversion to Decent Sampler scripts using the ConvertWithMoss tool works pretty fine, but the default UI it creates leaves a whole lot to be desired, so I'd love being able to come up with something more suitable.

Here is the only one that I’m aware of:

Does anyone have experience with Decent Sampler? I've been toying with making something with it, but it's a hard choice between that and HISE.

renoise - vst to multisample then "convert with moss" to nearly any sampler format you want

Oh, I stumbled over that in the past already, had forgotten about it. Thanks, will have a look at how far this could take me.

I've used HALion to sample hardware synths. I have a Cubase set up with a track that has every note from C0 up to C6/7.
I use that to play the synth and record the audio.
I then play that audio into HALion and it creates a multisample with trimmed individual .wavs labelled with the note name. Downside of HALion is I think it will only save the multisamples in it's own format?

Recently I've needed to create SF2 files and I've been using Bitwig Sampler to create multisamples that I then convert to SF2 using ConvertwithMoss. Bitwig seems to do ok with looping using it's crossfade which surprised me.

(I've attempted to loop samples in Wavelab elements but the results are not great and despite having it set to export loop markers it seems Bitwig doesn't read them.)

I have a number of old .akp files. I used to convert those via Kontakt but that's no longer possible I think. I've had to import them into MPC software and then export in it's normal format (forgotten what it is) and then convert that..which is a massive pain and takes ages.

I'd like to get a list of all known autosamplers and also all known SFZ editors, for all three major OSes. There aren't too many for linux at the moment.

Decent Sampler is just using an XML text file. If you have a Decent Sampler Instrument you like just look at the XML file and you will see the structure

You can use the Google Gemini AI and the Claude AI to write scripts for you

Once you dig into it it's dead simple really

I have made thousands of presets with it, feel free to ask me anything

SynthMaster 3 has a built in multi-sample editor. It can read/write sfz files. In our next major update SynthMaster 4 we will also add an "auto sampler"

I think I need to go with HISE because it looks like it has the flexibility of Kontakt. I want to be able to have two sampler engines in it to blend samples and I want an arp or a sequencer. I also may be a little too ambitious.
