I'm going to try it out today. For those reading this, can download the 6 presets for Fabfilter Pro-MB from the page above. Lars goes into detail about similarities and differences. Ultimately it appears Lars was looking to Pro-MB for more control, and there are definitely differences.Ploki wrote: Sun Jan 24, 2021 8:43 ami tried this. it's not really OTT-y. its cool, but its not really ottbillcarroll wrote: Sun Jan 24, 2021 12:40 am Creating an OTT-like Preset Using Pro-MB

I think most of us have Steve Duda's Xfer OTT, and that really covers the more precise copy of OTT preset in Ableton. I'm such a fan of Fabfilter and haven't been using Pro-MB much, so I'm intrigued to see what the presets show. Apparently Pro-MB can do upwards and downwards compression at the same time?!

I know this is an old post but for anyone that comes looking for this information, I'm going to mention here the real alternatives that I found after lots of research.
Many people keep mentioning FabFilter Pro-MB, but it's not the same. In Pro-MB, you have to pick between upwards or downwards compression per band, you can't do both upward and downward at the same time, which is the key specialty of Ableton Live's Multiband Dynamics. Many other suggestions that I've seen have the same similar issue, the plugin does not provide upwards and downwards compression at the same time per band.
So the real ones that I've found that can do everything that Ableton Live's MB Dynamics are the following:
-Discreet Signals 8TT, up to 8 bands of upward and downward compression per band, intuitive interface, and it's free.
-Minimal Audio Fuse Compressor, up to 6 bands of upward and downward compression per band, very intuitive and sharp interface with great help and global controls, is paid but has a reasonable price of $49, and many times they have it on sale at around $24
-Blue Cat's MB-5 Dynamics 2, up to 5 bands of upward and downward compression per band, not very intuitive interface and actually weirdly organized, way too expensive at $149

Another good one: https://deviousmachines.com/product/x6/
Bleass has another that you can pick up cheap. No linear phase crossovers in it, very similar to the OTT.

worth adding TDR Nova GE to the list - it does simultaneous upward and downward compression per band and the crossovers are clean. not identical to Ableton MB Dynamics in workflow but it covers the same ground. the free Nova version is good too, just no upward compression and fewer bands.
