Yeah, they have to keep the machinery running. Very few artists these days, afaik, challenge themselves to be great. Not just sell units or streams, but aspire to break new ground and write music with intent and relevance that will be loved long after they‘re dust.mumpcake wrote: Fri Feb 27, 2026 5:10 pmIt's a problem of math. There are only so many legends you can induct before you have to start inducting the greats, and then the pretty goods and then "well, they sold a lot of records".Bombadil wrote: Thu Feb 26, 2026 12:15 pm If everyone is ‚special‘, no one is. For some of these people to get in along side the likes of Berry, Elvis, Beatles, Stones, Dylan, Hendrix, Floyd, Deep Purple and many others is a joke. They‘re not fit to be roadies for the Immortals.

Of course, I doubt anyone wrote a song with an eye on posterity. Just great music, that will travel on its own from generation to generation.

I didn‘t capitalize the ‚the.‘
I remember wanting to see the first movie, but never got around to it.

They were a boy band (kiddie band really) with a couple of minor hits. Surprisingly they all had fairly successful R & B music careers afterwards.
But they shouldn't be judging a band on what the members did afterwards. Otherwise they'd have to induct the French band Neon because of Daft Punk and Phoenix.
Even if the piano player can't play, keep the party going.

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is a Museum chasing for revenue and deciding who goes in there is just in their interest to sell tickets.

I don't have a clear recollection of ever caring a lot about this event. This list has at least five entries that are in a whole different genre than R 'n R with pretty much no overlap with it. Some of them I really don't know what they do so 'at least' five. Phil Collins was in kind of a rock band at one time
to me the least lame nod is Jeff Buckley

That last WU Tang Clan album was TOO rock and roll.

IMO Jeff Buckley, Wu Tang Clan, Joy Division/New Order, Lauryn Hil and Sade are all worthy!
Phil Collins also did the '70s Eno stuff plus Brand X.
Agree that RRHOF recognition is basically meaningless!
