Hello musicians and enthusiasts!

Could it be that aliens are among us? And have been for a long
time? That's exactly what our current song is about:

The lyrics are available as a PDF. You can also download the story
about the aliens (Drake Equation) as a PDF.

We only recorded an acoustic guitar with a microphone. In addition,
of course, we used an electric bass, drums, and some percussion.
The integrated loudness (LUF-I) is approximately -10.6 dB.

Enjoy!

Nice vibe...upbeat / happy, but with but with a little 'edge' to it - quite retro 1990s in many ways...

Haven't analysed why, but it reminded me of Ugly Kid Joe at times.

Tryin' to tell us something enroe? Where are you from :)

This production sounds great all around! The recording on the acoustic guitar is excellent. Added to my library.

"Ugly Kid Joe" --- yes, a nice comparison!

The challenge here was to use only the acoustic guitar
alongside the drums and electric bass - and to make the
song as minimalist as we could possibly imagine.

Thank you, ChameleaonMusic! :)

If aliens are among us, that would explain a lot! Great sound - how did you record the guitar. I am impressed you resisted the urge to put in big distorted guitar chords in the chorus - I think it works as a minimalist approach. I like the additional sounds and ear candy in the last verse.

So I --- ... yes, I'm from Aldebaran!

Hahaha, there are actually people who believe that aliens have
been among us for a long time. That's an interesting idea – but
I – we here – don't believe it.

But the more interesting question is: Are there any extraterrestrial
civilizations anywhere in the universe? I attempt to provide a solid
answer to this on the website (Drake equation).

Thanks for listening and for your feedback! :hyper:

enroe,
Thank you for the review! Glad this forum is working again. THEY LIVE AMONG US! And so do other humans. ;) Very nice acoustic guitar playing. The pitch-tweaked vocals add to the space alien vibe. It all sounds very good to me. Maybe "Ancient Aliens" (a TV show) will play your song?

Yes, exactly – that was the challenge from the very beginning:
only acoustic guitars, no amplifiers! Well, that just meant more
finger noise and string bending in the song. It took a really long
time to position these sounds so that they blend into the song
and don't interfere.

The idea of "aliens among us" is, of course, a somewhat
extraordinary one. But overall, the question of the number of
extraterrestrials in the galaxy is an open - and also a highly
exciting(!) - question. :hyper:

There is a new version of this song today, "Have they
been among us?" Changes:

-- Vocal EQs: somewhat fresher, more intense
-- minor changes in many places

Overall, the song should sound a bit "fresher" and a bit more
catchy. Did we succeed?

The original link (on the website) leads to the new version.

Have fun!

I thought it had a '90s RHCP vibe, especially the chord progression. As others have said, the recording and mix are excellent. The guitar sounds great, and so does the bass.

Good work :)

Oh, thank you! We listened to and still listen to a lot of Red Hot
Chili Peppers, one of our favorite bands. So the comparison
to them is a huge compliment – thank you! :D

Liked it. Vocals are good, and well treated. At times the guitar and bass sounded "closer" compared to the vocals, so I would have personally backed off those to let the vocals be slightly more prominent.
Liked the guitar solo at the end a lot.
