I work a lot in Cubase and am wondering if it's possible to make the insert slots in the mixer view to appear more like they do in Cubase.

Make this look ...

more like this.

Thank you.

The word on the street has always been that reaper can be skinned and configured pretty much any way one could imagine. I have no idea how to go about this though. Sorry. Definitely check out the official reaper forum.

Thank you. I'm hoping it's just a minor theme adjustment. I went through the theme settings but couldn't find a setting for this.

BTW, is your signature form When Harry Met Sally? I love that movie.

It can. And this is definitely something one can do with, if not a little configuration tweaking, then at least a custom skin.

EDIT: This skin appears to be one that achieves what you're looking for: https://stash.reaper.fm/theme/2259/Vex% ... d%20try%29

Thank you for the link. I was hoping to keep the same default reaper theme, just adjust contrast or something for the insert slots.

If you want the insert slots from the above (or any) theme, download and unzip it, copy the mcp_fxlist pngs and paste them into your unzipped default theme folder.

Here's a link on how to unpack themes:

Make sure you make a copy of your default theme first :)

I did this with a dozen file mods on original Reaper 6 theme
- not a savvy on this but at least functional
- comparing original to the right
- took half a day
- first finding names of files to modify with the tool hilighting parts of theme
- the modify and look up there are multiple states in one file

It's unbelievable the choice of colors they did by default, what is the purpose making mixer a big black blob and hard to see what is loaded as sends and fx?

Yep. I screen printed that T-shirt when I was a teen. It has since dissolved. I should get it again. The whole "Mr Zero knew." Scene is awesome.

Completely agree.

Reaper is a masterclass in terrible UI design, unfortunately. Absolutely great audio engine, and fantastic features.... but god I hate using it.

Reapertips theme honestly fixes most of its problems. But yeah, the person in charge of theming is not the most adequate for the job.

Reaper's default general look gives a bad impression. Frankly, the default theme is straight up ugly and not nearly as usable as it could be. But Cockos doesn't seem to care to improve it. As a long time Reaper user, Reaper is still my default daw, but it could definitely use some work in those areas.
