Which DAW has the best sampler plugin?

I have only ever used Logic Pro, but I am probably looking at making a switch to Bigwig some time this year. How do the other DAW's samplers compare to Logic's? I make liberal use of Logic Pro's Quick Sampler. It has a nice workflow, allowing you to drag and drop an audio file from anywhere, and you can switch on the fly between from classic, one-shot, and slice (either based on automatic transient detection or tempo synced divisions). Multi-Sampler is also nice, but I think if I really wanted to create a complex multi-sampled instrument, I could do more with Kontakt.

Logic's sampler, back when it was called EXS24, was competition against things like Kontakt and Halion. Kontakt of course blew up and became what it is (or isn't) today, and Halion kept going on its merry way and is now basically a full featured sampler with Yamaha synth engines in it. Feature wise, Logic's sampler is still up there, just doesn't have the market the other two do since its stuck inside Logic Pro now.
It really depends on how deep your sampling goes. Are you doing multi-layered things, just one shots spread across the keyboard, drum breaks, etc?? I mean some folks can get by with Amigo or TAL Sampler, or even the sampler in Renoise. Others will need one of the 'big boys' like Halion or Kontakt..

I'd have to go with Reason on this one. You have a choice of at least 3 samplers.
I'm guessing the OP wants to stick with something macOS compatible?

Bitwigs sampler is pretty great. if you're looking at sample libraries nothing beats Kontakt. For enjoying using it, IMO Falcon is the one, especially for hybrid synth/sampler sounds.

If you want something to build complex multi sampled instruments with, no DAW has anything to beat Halion, Kontakt or Falcon. However Logic does also have sample Alchemy and Alchemy itself - both very powerful but in a different way. Actually people forget that Alchemy can use multi samples but many great libraries have been made with it combining sampling with other forms of synthesis

That's a tough one: I'd say Ableton!
But it's only by a tiny shard.
My other option would be Logic's sanpler, which is just fabulous by by it's automapping functions.
Ablenton Suite's Sampler is way better with all of it's modes...

FL has a pretty generic sampler but what I love is called the Granulizer because it can slice and dump midi which can then be rearranged. Stich is you have to know BPM of loop (and I think how many bars it is).

Cubase it has Halion and comes with Kontakt 7
To be honest I'm not impressed with many of the sampled instruments within Halion. They are functional at best especially ikonica
While I'm not a fan of NI's instruments I am a huge fan of many products that utilize the Kontakt environment for scripting. Especially products of Sonuscore / Best of Service

We need a FL Studio enthusiast to tell us how great Edison, Slicex, and DirectWave are.osiris wrote: Thu Mar 05, 2026 2:52 pm FL has a pretty generic sampler but what I love is called the Granulizer because it can slice and dump midi which can then be rearranged. Say what? This reads like an AI hallucination. Don't forget the Cubase Sampler Track!tapper mike wrote: Thu Mar 05, 2026 3:05 pm Cubase it has Halion and comes with Kontakt 7

We now have almost all the DAWs represented.

If the sampler is so important (and you work beat-oriented) I´d suggest to have a closer look at MPC Software. It´s not only a MPC in the box, it´s a DAW that integrates perfectly with the MPC and its workflow.
