discoDSP has repackaged the community-driven open-source code in his own Retromulator product.
We've seen this move before with the OB-xd
https://www.discodsp.com/retromulator/
Here is the free project that should be supported!

It’s so nice that all the synths from the usual suspects are all in one place. Still definitely donate to the usual suspects as their hard work and plugin development is pretty incredible. discoDSP has become one of my favorite developers.

GPL explicitly and uncontroversially allows this. If The Usual Suspects didn't want people making a variant that costs money but adds tech support, they wouldn't have released it under GPL.

I don't see what the problem is. Under the terms of the licence he's allowed to do this. You don't have to pay for it and he's quite open about the fact it's built on Gearmulator. This seems to be an instance of people being upset for no good reason.

Why are people upset that someone used the source code of an open sourced product that was created and listened to do exactly this?
If you are upset that this happened stop using open sourced software

EDIT: if it is open source I do not have a problem. But it isn't. And it is obvious that DiscoDSP does not clearly say Free download. Instead you get to chose between a "Download" and a "BUY" button. Like it is when you are offered a demo version before you buy.
