Since it’s standalone, is there any easy way to somehow to get its audio into a DAW? I’m guessing I’d probably need to play the parts live and record it that way.

Yes downloaded and scanned with both Avast and Malwarebytes.
No issue here. I get the feeling this might be from a small company, and I bet the warning might have something to do with registering the windows installer?

To get it into a DAW I believe you'd might need a loopback or something like Gig Performer, VBaudio Matrix, maybe even ASIO4All or some other audio router.

I found some backup CDs but I had converted everything I could to waves to use in Kontakt. I have Korg Trinity, XP-80 and
SY85 left. :(

I was able to record it into Audacity at least. I just have to figure out how to work with it with my DAW that I use.

I’m getting back into audio software after being away for 20 years.
Quick question for you: Which export formats do you consider essential today for maximum compatibility?

Wav is the standard for uncompressed, lossless audio.

If I remember correctly a lot of the Akai discs wave files are some janky bitrate. Like 10 bits, 12 bits - I don't remember.
