Joined the beta for this, pretty crazy and impressive, multi-engine chorus. Very interesting effect and sound, worth checking out imo

Hey, developer here. Really appreciate you posting this Eric, means a lot.
Happy to answer any questions about the DSP or the dev panel if anyone wants to dig in.
One thing worth noting for anyone who tries the Red engine(HQ Off BBD): if you notice distortion at Depth 0% in standard mode, lowering BBD Stages from 1024 to 768 in the dev panel eliminates it. Credit to Angelo Belias from the beta for diagnosing that.
Fix is targeted for the next update.
Still in beta until May 1, free to download at the link above. All feedback welcome.

Linux native version?
Vendor‑Dependent Copy Protection: Customers lose. Pirates win.
(Also: I'm Accused of lying about Linux—it boots, runs my pro audio workflow, stays stable, updates--though yearly dismissed as “niche”. Yet I'm the deluded one.)

Haven't attempted a build on any Linux distros yet, it's on my list but with the Avid/AAX and PACE signing stuff being a big priority right now I just haven't gotten to it.
The good news is JUCE 8 should compile cross-platform and host fine in any VST3-capable environment.
The full source is here: https://github.com/EsotericShadow/choro ... pen-source
If you know your way around a terminal, or have an LLM coding tool like Cursor or Claude Code set up I'm sure you can get it building on your distro pretty easily.
Happy to help troubleshoot if you run into anything!

Unfortunately me cannot code, so another +1 for native Linux!KaizenDSP wrote: Tue Mar 10, 2026 12:15 amHaven't attempted a build on any Linux distros yet, it's on my list but with the Avid/AAX and PACE signing stuff being a big priority right now I just haven't gotten to it.

Very interesting looking plugin btw.

He even wrote a 3D knob generator, with 3D import, physically based materials, texture painting, advanced lighting simulation and
procedural brushes. Which I hope he releases, since I don’t have a dev environment set up currently.
Anyway, crazy attention to detail. Super impressive.

It is pretty large, not sure why at this point. Maybe hi-res graphics for resize ability. Possibly It’s due to the different engines.
It’s worth it though. Imo.

Good catch. The current size is unoptimized assets, it's on the list for before v1.0. The final build will be significantly smaller.

Eric, thank you for continuing to champion this. The knob physics comment genuinely made my day.pekbro wrote: Tue Mar 10, 2026 6:12 pm He even wrote a 3D knob generator, with 3D import, physically based materials, texture painting, advanced lighting simulation and

KnobForge is on my list as a standalone release, but its an entirely different beast to support that kind of app. Also It needs a heavy UI/UX pass before I'd hand it to anyone, right now it only makes sense to me. When it's ready you'll be the first person I reach out to.
it's available for anyone to check out and if youre brave you can compile the binary ahha https://github.com/EsotericShadow/KnobForge
thanks again and cheers!

Thanks Gabriel,
I may set up MSVC soon, as I should re-organize my pc a bit. There’s some other stuff I’d like to build as well. Of course I’ve been meaning to for a while. Heh.

Quick update on where things are at with Choroboros. First off, massive thank you to everyone who's been testing and sending feedback. We got reports from 26 testers across the last couple builds and every single one has been incredibly useful. You're all shaping this thing in ways I couldn't on my own, so genuinely appreciate you taking the time!
v2.04 is basically ready, I'm just running some validation tests across systems and daws before I pump out the release.
and about the assets; I rewrote the rendering logic to include controlled but lossy PNG compression and got the spritesheet size down from 25-45mb to 2-5mb, so thats a huge step forward!
Cheers!
