I guess the hard part is automatically tag sounds based on their sound. Only an AI could do that. But browsing by presets instead of plugins is implemented also in Bitwig. The only reason I was never interested in Unify… Still you have to tag them yourself…

Indeed, auto tagging is the hard part in this. You could devise some tagging based on the presets' metadata contents, but it will be different implementation for every plugin... AI could solve it based on an appropriate training set (if that would exist)?Tj Shredder wrote: Sun Mar 08, 2026 6:47 am I guess the hard part is automatically tag sounds based on their sound. The technology is there. There are sample browsers that can do it. It needs to load a preset, listen to it and tag it. But loading a preset already might be a hurdle... You would need to aid the software to do that. Open the browser of the plugin tell it how to advance to the next sound and save it in a standard format. It could even aid in changing some unwanted default settings of presets. I would want to set any preset to MPE or at least set the pitch bend to its maximum for example...

Thanks for informing me on that Tj Shredder. Didn't know there existed (AI powered) sample browsers. Searching the web I came across XLN Audio XO, Sononym, Atlas 2. You know these? Any preference? Or others you know of?Tj Shredder wrote: Sun Mar 08, 2026 4:18 pm The technology is there. There are sample browsers that can do it. It needs to load a preset, listen to it and tag it. I take back what I said about FL, but still the only presets are for their Native stuff. I did get OG Albino presets to show up, but they were .fxp extensions.

Haha, fully agree with that. So many more issues and bugs to deal with, when developing a plugin host....BertKoor wrote: Sat Feb 21, 2026 8:48 am There is no single midi clip suitable to demo a large variation of synth patched.
There is one thing I know for sure is more complex than developing a VST plugin: developing a VST plugin Host.
