CandelaAudio wrote: Wed Mar 11, 2026 1:03 am I wish JUCE had better integration and support for CLAP. So far I run into quite a few issues when developing CLAP versions.
Thanks for this really useful info. I considered supporting CLAP, but in this case I'll still wait with paying for upgrading my JUCE license.
What kind of issues did you experience?
Will things get better with upcoming JUCE versions?
When do you think JUCE intergation might work relieably?

Thank you in advance

It's also a 'classic case' of the developer discontinued VST2 almost 20 years ago, and its time to move on regardless of what armchair devs think the spec does and doesn't deliver..

CLAP whenever possible (has even become a criteria for me to buy a product) and VST2 if CLAP is not available. The only VST3 stuff I have is some newer waves shell thingy. But I'm also looking to get rid of that.
It runs on my machine! Everything else is undefined behavior.

VST3 exclusively. Because all the plugins I use come in that format and I don't want multiple versions cluttering up my system.

I've yet to find a need for CLAP, but that's not to say that use cases don't exist. If all plugins started supporting it then I'd move to it. I recently re-installed everything on a new system and IIRC only maybe 15%-20% of the reinstalls even offered CLAP versions.

Mostly VST2. VST3 if that's the only option for the plugin. I keep meaning to tidy up and go VST3 only but with so many projects I want to finish that use both it's a hassle.

Vst2

Mostly VST3 but sometimes CLAP, usually just u-he because they are one of the few devs who are putting out 'proper' CLAP plugins i.e. making full use of the API, not just wrapping up VST into a different format.
Always Read the Manual!

AAX on PT.
primarily VST2 on everything else, with VST3-only plugins 'wrapped' as VST2 via xlutop tools (ie VST3shell)
An idiot on Set Theory:

CLAP where possible, VST3 where not, except in Logic, but when I’m in Logic it’s usually more to use the built in devices like Alchemy anyway

Post

VST3 since it's the default in Cubase and eventually will be the only option.
Take a single oscillator, producing a drone. Send it to the wave shaper, altering the tone.
This can be a triangle, Sawtooth or a square. Modulate the pulse width, nobody will care

Another CLAP vote.

Why am I limited to choose only 3 options in the poll if I use more? Standalone (Plugin Doctor, VE, some VI), VST2 (old plugins with no VST3 version), VST3, and CLAP.

Clap, VST3 or Vst2.
Clap seems very performant with my setup.
I'm a dumb hairless monke

U-he can no longer offer VST2 versions. So VST3 offers availability in some cases.
