Vlades41 wrote: Mon Mar 16, 2026 3:14 pm FigBug I'm sorry. Please consider adding the Nexus 4 skin. I'm very used to the usual convenient mode, where everything is easily accessible and quick to find presets.
I'd like to hear specifics of the issues with the Nexus 5 UI so we can improve them. Maintaining several different UIs isn't feasible.

Is the main issue that Nexus 4 had the modifiers, reverb, delay and filter available on every page whereas Nexus 5 doesn't?

Or are you just missing the reverb, delay and filter on the main page?

I can't speak for Vlades41 but, as much as I'm very much enjoying Nexus 5, I also have issues on the UI side that are getting in the way of work:

- Some people don't get along with dark/black interfaces and find them tricky to navigate. Any chance of having again a light/white UI for the main N5 interface? Many people prefer this and my guess would be this is partly what the other poster is referring to. I was hoping this would come at some point when I upgraded from 4 as that still had a light interface - I imagined it would port over. So for me at least it's a step backwards in this regard.

- The N5 UI elements such as knobs and many controls are very small on my 1920x1200 display unless I make the plugin take up most of the screen, which isn't a realistic way of working. This isn't a problem I've enter encountered on another plugin and, at least at the resolution I'm using, the scaling is odd. Can I suggest an option to tweak this behaviour and allow the user resize the UI within the interface somehow, like we can the text?

It'd be great to get your thoughts FigBug - many thanks.

As a counterpoint, when I'm making patches I always have any synth's GUI as large as it can be and hopefully taking up the most screen real estate as possible because why wouldn't you want to see what you're doing as clearly as possible? So indeed a very "realistic way of working" for me.

There's always the Retro skin for when just preset hunting. :tu:

Sure - I of course meant a realistic way of working for me and anyone who also likes to see other windows or parts of their DAW while working. I don't know of any other synth that makes this almost a necessity; that's my point.

I guess I'm still getting used to the Nexus 4, where everything was right there. I'm also used to having reverb, delay, and filter on the main page. So I'm constantly switching between the N2 Retro and the main page.

N2 Retro is limited, and the category search isn't convenient. I have to scroll to the very bottom of the page to find the category I need. I couldn't find the search string for the title. I can't figure out how to enter it; I'm looking for something like "synth." I want to find something suitable from all the libraries.

In the Nexus 5's effects group, in the tool's effects chain, I noticed there's no way to replace an effect on the same row. You can only add a new effect. You have to delete and move the new effect to that row. This isn't very convenient when there are many effects in the chain and you only need to replace one.

I'll see if I can think of a way to bring back reverb, delay, filter to the main page. The issue is there isn't really a "main reverb" any more. Everything is flexible and there can be anywhere from 0 to 10 reverbs.

In Nexus 4 there were 5 insert effects that you could change the type of. The other effect types like eq, reverb & delay you couldn't change the type of. I can bring back that behavior for all effects.

Yes, totally agree. I can’t use Nexus 5 for extended periods because it’s so hard on my eyes. That dark black skin is just bad UI design - sure, it looks cool at first glance but usability is compromised for those of us with less than perfect vision. There was a mention last year that a lighter version was coming, but anytime someone asks about it, there’s no response.

Again as a counterpoint I can and have worked with the Nexus 5 dark skin for hours at a time without any eye fatigue whatsoever and my eyes suck. It's one of the most comfortable, pleasing, and easy to work with GUIs of any synth I own and I own a lot of synth plugins.

So what you're doing is expressing a personal opinion about UI design that is not shared by all. I don't have a problem with other options being added but I do have a problem if your complaints end up ruining a GUI that I love.

So Figbug, please don't mess with the current UI.

Good! Thank you! Think about it. I wish you success.

Behavior for all effects- will be a good solution.

Currently working on a theme editor. It and a few skins will be in 5.5 to be released later this year.

Awesome! More options mean more happy users. Just please keep the current GUI as an option. :tu:

The development of Nexus has been so great the last few years. Really top notch.

I don't know if it's a known bug but when I undo a change instead of undoing the last one it undo the last 2-3-4 changes. Windows 11, Bitwig 6, vst3.

Can you create a screen recording and open a support ticket?
