Hey, you know what? I think we're going to try to do a KVR/SR company forum reunion next month. We'll send an email blast to all of our esoundz customers and post about it here to get all of the classic KVR posters from the last 2 years to pop in and say hello in a thread for just one day (one day of tempting distraction from their music making and life living!!!!). That would be fun. The Wookie'd be there, DeWaverly and of course Mr. (WTF) Tunes and Proggie (who isn't really here but is but isn't according to his sig

look at this guy! he's educated -he has books in the background. one of them says Oracle so he knows his code. that bunny on the shelf makes me think he has a little tyke in the house.
and he has TWO keyboards! the top one looks like a kurzweil and the bottom is a yamaha those are my guesses.
so yeah about the *gig* as you can see in my photo i love performing with gear so it will be exciting to see what the sonik elementz does.
i'll warn you all again: look out! Tunes is coming to namm. it's all over folks.

Self photography. That depends.
Good to see you again m8.
Okay, so getting back on topic for a second, here are some updates on this monster gig that is getting out of hand. (squids takes a deep breath) Okay, now we've added a horn section too.
They play with Christina Aguelera (or however you spell it). We might do Owner of a Lonely Heart with real horns and Ricky Lawson/EWF as the rhythm section on that one (and the Giraffe Lamb gig line up doing some stuff off of Fragile using SS2 mellotrons and RMI live!).
Oh man, this is getting out of hand. I have to somehow organize this and it is difficult to manage who plays with who, when, what, how, what? Who? What? Really? No. When? How???? I just hope we get at least one rehearsal. This is challenging. But, it might not be that difficult really. Everyone fortunately is about as nice and friendly as it gets.
Speaking of that, I talked to Jon Anderson and Larry Dunn today. Jon has a great combination of being deep but also funny. I like to think I am that way but then Jon goes so far out there that I get lost a bit and it is more of an abstract understanding We got into this whole conversation about "the moon dog and the march hare" from the song "We Have Heaven". I just wanted to know what it was about and the explanation was a journey into the unknown.
Do you guys know Larry Dunn at all? Anyone here into old school EWF? Even I wasn't fully up on him as a keyboardist but he is really cool. He told me his old rig and it was insane. All the good stuff. B3, Rhodes, Arp 2600, Ob 8 voice (on Fantasy), Moog Vocoder (Let's Groove tonight was him vocoding... I am going to sample it. They ran it through a certain stomp box to get the full effect), EMS Synthis, Minimoogs, Prophet 5s... that's the stuff man! So, as you can imagine, he is in love with Sonik Synth 2 right now. That's how we started talking about his old rig. He even had a Steiner Parker modular! When he said that I said "Dude, you know there's a Steiner in..." and he said "Yeah, I know, I know. I saw it.".
Nice evening before I leave for LA. Too bad I haven't had much sleep in two days though.

I've never read the Oracle book - I'm sure it's there for decoration.
My little tykes are named Ivan and Mishka and they're both cats. The bunny on the shelf is actually an elephant. It was a present from a friend of mine. I'm about as single as it gets. Hey Squids - maybe Mel will like me.
The top keyboard is a Kawai K5000S and is has a layer of dust on it.
The bottom one is a Yamaha P80.
Back on topic myself, I am just so not "in the know" with these things. I would make the worst name-dropper. None of these people ring any bells with me except Christina - and I've got to say she does nothing but inspire bile creation in me.
However, it sounds like a blast and I'm sure all these guys must be really good if you're bothering to name them. Why can't NAMM happen just when I happen to be holidaying in the US?! *sigh*

Oh No @ Mr Tunes.
You must have been alone for a while if you're ogling Christina. My eyeballs want to throw themselves on swords everytime I see her.
She is a kaleidoscope of bad taste and looks like her face suffered from a severe paint explosion. And her voice!!!! Argh!!! Hold one note for more than half a second Christina - please!!!
Yes - I am definitely older than you Mr Tunes
I may well seek out some particular names who were great at certain styles to help me when I broaden my composing skills. It's always good to learn a little from listening I say. At that time I'll probably have to come to Squids because we already know - he knows EVERYONE!

I saw EWF back in 1980. Probably the tightest live show I've ever seen, although I also saw Yes on their revolving circular stage back in the late '70s and that was also a great show. I liked '70s era EWF a lot.Squids wrote:Do you guys know Larry Dunn at all? Anyone here into old school EWF?

the only time i've seen EWF live was a tiny quicktime clip from last year's namm at the m-audio booth showing off some microphones
. pretty pathetic eh?
