I must be one of the few people around here who actually likes Collective 2...

It's a lot better than many people give it credit for...

Even as a basic analog synth, you can dial up sounds that work great in a mix with very low CPU drain and loading up four sine waves and changing the symmetry and the shape of the sines is pretty cool...

The multi-stage envelopes are very good and the filters and LFO's do their job just fine...

It's not one of my main workhorse synths, but it gets used a lot because it is useful...

It's not perfect and there are many features found in other synths that don't exist, but that's not the point...

In the real world, each instrument plays a part in creating the overall tapestry that makes up the collective sound...

Now that's punny

I use it because it gives me another colour and it always blends well when I am layering it with other synths...

In many cases,it actually blends better than a lot of the "big boys" do...

An orchestra is not made up of 84 violins because that would be as boring as batshit...

It is made up of different instruments to give us textures and tonality that compliment each other...

And that's the way it should be with our synth palette...

Arranging 101 :tu:
No auto tune...

From what I've heard, batshit is anything but boring. I've heard it's crazy .. :hihi:

On the matter of Collective 2: it has the interface (GUI & UX) I actually want the Logic Pro team to do for Alchemy.

Don't get me wrong, it's not that I don't like it. It's just that, at least on my system, it randomly crashes the DAW while adding/removing parts and tweaking settings in its GUI. So, I don't feel comfortable at all in using it.
Furthermore, their support has simply dropped the ball (an official request I opened), especially when I asked for a refund (though I know their sales are "final" in that they don't imply the ability to cancel the purchase).

I've never had a Tracktion synth crash in Reaper with Win 10...

Then probably it's a Linux thing... I heard their Linux staff is quite small :(

That's a classic issue with Linux audio unfortunately, it can be a bit of a wild west. Collective has always been rock solid for me on my Windows machine, it's a surprisingly deep synth. I would definitely check their official support forum, sometimes a dev has a beta build or a known workaround for specific Linux distros.

Ok, but what makes me sad - and wondering - is that their support is not...well... supportive that much, as well :\
