Nice point. I always associate workflow with gui, although related aren't actually the same thing. I missed the distinction.BONES wrote: Sun Mar 22, 2026 6:09 am GX80 can't hold a candle to Softube's Model 77 but the thing with the CS-80 is that it's actually a very basic synth, it was its playability that made it popular. I found Cherry's Trident and Quadra terribly underwhelming but maybe the originals were, too? THeir 2600 isn't in the same league as Korg's, either.
The GUI on Dreamsynth put me off instantly, I didn't even bother downloading it (although I think the demo video probably also had something to do with it). It's the workflow in DUNE I dislike, not the UI itself. If they took the layers out of DUNE I'd use it a lot more.
I have a plan. One can learn Reaper and at the same time go through every Dune 3 patch and reduce them down to one layer. Won't take too long...
On a serious note, Model 77 although warmer in certain regions is different than the GX-80 because it is a GX-1/CS-80 hybrid. I played the patches side by side from both synths (along with yhe CS-80 V and The Eighty) and found the GX-80 the most inspirational because of its creamier nature, personslly.
