Thanks, Derek that's really useful. I could certainly see the benefits of "finding similar sounds" (if it exists in ADSR I seem to have missed it) and duplicate detection so I'll wait for that demo and check it out when it's available.

Hi. I am trying the trial, but it looks like the feature similar sounds is not working? Whenever I try it it just gives me the wrong similar sound sample, not the one I currently have selected? Not sure if I am doing anything wrong.
Any sort of demos, tutorials or anything would greatly improve this product.

Hi. There is a recent fix for this in v2.3.0. Launch SonikCentral and click the orange "Update" button get the new update. Not only does 'Find Similar Sounds' work well now, but you can describe a sound you want in the search bar and it will find that sound, even if the filename, category or tag isn't available. For example, you can say "warm synth plucks" and it will find warm synth pluck sounds, even if they are percussion sounds, that sound like "warm synth plucks" but just aren't labeled as such, for example.sidenros1 wrote: Wed Mar 25, 2026 9:36 am Hi. When upgrading to v2.3.0, this will require the existing similar sounds data for your samples to be updated before you can resume using the app. This will happen automatically upon app start. You can close and reopen the app to resume this progress so you can perform this upgrade process at your convenience.
Hope that helps!

I tried this when the demo was available and kind of gave up quite quickly because things just didn't work as I expected and/or as they really should. Specifically around things like finding similar, autoplaying samples and just the general GUI doesn't always feel like it's working, especially in the DAW.
Too many examples and I'm not a beta tester so don't ask me to list them!
I've just tried again with the newest update (still have 7 days left in the trial) and things didn't really seem any better.
I'll maybe come back to this in a few months after some updates but it's not ready for release imho and needs more time in testing (certainly the windows version).

Greetings! First off, I give you much props for creating SonikSearch. It is amazing! I'm currently using sononym for one-shot drum samples and adsr sample manager for loops. SonikSearch does everything I need, but better. I was able to take advantage of the free trial but had a few concerns/suggestions before purchasing...sonikstation wrote: Tue Mar 10, 2026 1:10 am Hello! I'm Derek, the creator of SonikSearch. Feel free to ask me anything.
I have a video that shows the import and analysis process of 170k sounds in 25 minutes. At the end of the video when analysis is complete, you can also see how responsive the GUI is with handling all of those sounds.

1. Resizable Plugin? I tried it in Studio Pro 8 (hidpi enabled) on a 4k display with the scale set to 200% (windows 11). This cut off the bottom and the right side of the plugin interface making it unusable. Upon setting the display scale to 100%, the plugin interface was perfect. But this also makes everything so tiny on my display I'm unable to work under such circumstances. Is there a workaround or fix for this?
2. Start on next bar toggle? While using as a plugin the tempo syncs but the sample will start when selected. I have grown accustomed to having tempo synced loops start on the next bar as it gives a really good preview of how the loop will sound in context of what is already in the arrangement. Is this something that can/will be implemented in the future?
3. Key Sync to nearest Key? The current option to transpose up or down works well and allows for greater flexibility. But I would prefer an option to have it automatically transpose up or down based on whatever is nearest using the least amount of transpose. Is this something that can/will be implemented in the future?
4. The demo downloaded a 2gb installer into my documents folder that lingered. A heads up or cleanup would be nice for those with limited drive space.
5. Are there any upcoming sale/promotions? the current price is competitive, but I alway like to get stuff on sale so I dont feel bad when it does knowing I paid full price and could have saved a little money.
In the meantime I will be following the evolution of SonikSearch in hopes of someday purchasing it to replace sononym and adsr sample manager. Thank You!

Thanks for coming back to try it again, that means a lot.dastewart wrote: Sun Mar 29, 2026 10:38 am I tried this when the demo was available and kind of gave up quite quickly because things just didn't work as I expected and/or as they really should. Good news is Find Similar and autoplay both got fixes in recent updates, so those should be sorted. Would be interested to hear if that's not the case. Updates are shipping regularly so things are moving fast.
If you run into anything specific feel free to reach out and I'll dig into it. Happy to extend your trial too so you can revisit after the next round of updates rather than feeling like the clock is ticking.

Really appreciate the kind words and the detailed feedback, great to hear it's working well for you alongside Sononym and ADSR.phreazey wrote: Sun Mar 29, 2026 7:50 pmGreetings! 1. HiDPI — I was able to reproduce this. I'll get a fix out for it.
2. Start on next bar — You're right that it starts when selected in the plugin, but it will also start when started from the DAW, syncing to the transport and starting from whatever bar position the DAW is at. What I like to do is set a loop in the DAW which makes the sample loop in context in the plugin, and then I can go browsing in the plugin while looping. Starting on the next bar is an interesting idea though — I need to do some research on that but it's on my radar now.
3. Key sync to nearest key — Got it, automatically transposing in whichever direction requires the least amount of shift. I like that idea, I'll look into it.
4. Installer cleanup — Good catch, I was able to reproduce this as well. I'll get that cleaned up.
5. No sales planned at the moment, but glad to hear the price feels competitive.
Thanks again for the thoughtful feedback. This is exactly the kind of stuff that helps shape where the product goes.

Would love to see a better video on browsing and auditioning samples using your XO-like "cloud". What was your intention with the large "void" in the middle of your library "cloud"?

Just installed the demo yesterday and set it to import my library of about 500k sounds (I've been collection for 25 years
), but it's not even 20% through importing 24h later.. it's really slow at processing. Am I doing something wrong here? I'm on a Macbook Pro M3 Pro and the samples are on a SSD NVME drive.

The void you were seeing was from the older analysis. The newer versions (v2.3.0 and newer) use improved algorithms that should give a much better distribution in the cloud. As for a video, it's on my list, I'll try to put something together showing the browse and audition workflow.oobesan wrote: Tue Mar 31, 2026 1:54 am Would love to see a better video on browsing and auditioning samples using your XO-like "cloud". That does sound slower than expected for your setup. For reference, I just did a test on 2.3.10 and processed about 55k samples in 48 minutes on an M4 Pro with NVMe. That's a bit longer than older versions since AI search was added, but 500k should still be well under 24 hours on your setup.twolegstoneworks wrote: Sun Apr 05, 2026 10:04 am Just installed the demo yesterday and set it to import my library of about 500k sounds (I've been collection for 25 years), but it's not even 20% through importing 24h later.. it's really slow at processing. Reach out to support@sonikstation.com and I'll help you figure out what's going on there.
Also about to update the site with system requirements and import time estimates so people know what to expect going in.

I demoed SonikSearch and just purchased it - great tool. It massively helps me with sound selection from my 150 GB of samples. In fact, it has become indispensable to me within one week of use. Much more useful to me than any competing tools I tried (ADSR, XLN XO etc).
Derek, I shot you a few questions and suggestions by email. Thanks!

I have a huge sample folder so would like to know more. Currently using ADSR but not very frequently. I like it for matching tempo/key to project while auditioning samples/loops.
