How to make that sound...

Hey everyone,

I'm trying to recreate the main synth from “À cause des garçons (Tepr Remix)” by Yelle in Ableton using Serum. I already managed to recreate the bassline pretty well, but I'm struggling with the main synth that plays from the beginning of the track :

I'm pretty close but it still doesn't sound the same — mine feels either too clean or too bright compared to the original. I tried using saw waves, distortion, filtering, and some delay, but I can't quite nail the texture and movement.

Does anyone have an idea how this synth might have been designed or layered? Any tips on oscillators, filters, or effects would help a lot.

Thanks!

That is a pretty standard 101/303 style synth so it is about the drives and the portamento and well as any other playing styles added.

This is a VITAL preset

The preset itself is a square-saw about 3/4 square to saw ratio.
Ive put one Osc on square and the 2nd on a saw and blended some of the saw into it.
You can do this in Serum with one osc if you have the right wavetables.

Unison but not too much detune.

Then I used 3 semitones on the pitch wheel to create pitch automations like you see in the picture.

At the highlighted area there's a dropping sound behind the notes thats not from the same preset so you could make a down pitch sample yourself and EQ it etc to taste.
