I spent some time playing my Linnstrument 200 with the speedbump surface over the weekend and I'm already finding it to fit my style of playing.
In the past I preferred to set the 'Relative' option for the Y-axis, because I wasn't very good at hitting the same spot on a pad accurately. The speedbump surface makes it much easier for me to hit the same spot repeatedly. Now I have that relative option turned off, which opens up some techniques I was struggling with. Really good stuff.
I like the feel of the new surface. The soy beans are just enough to help me get my finger placement right and still feel very smooth when doing slides.
I'm a happy camper! I'm using the Linnstrument quite a bit for my current project, so the new surface arrived at the perfect time. Thanks!

I now have speedbumpy surfaces for both my Linn 128 and now my Linn 200.
To me there's a huge improvement with the "hotdogs"/"soybeans" giving a visual and tactile feel for where your fingers should be as opposed to the edges of the pads on the original playing surface surface. The ridges makes y-axis control way more tactile. Like many Linnstrument players, I'm primarily a guitarist and this surface feels much more familiar.
John the Savage mentioned the potential visual benefits of the black speedbumpy surface over the white.
I've tried both the white and black speedbumpy surfaces on my 128 and found that the black is much much easier to "see". I found it hard to see the white hotdogs inset into white silicon, and since I usually only light the A and C notes as position markers (to help wean myself off playing only the white keys) - I found the white surface somewhat harder to get around.
So far so good with the new smaller soybeans: they feel even better for pitch bends.

Ooooh, yes. I am seriously loving the black 200 surface. Easy install (thanks for the great video, Roger!), looks amazing - and, for me, it plays really well. I feel really at home on this new surface and haven't found anything about it that doesn't work well. Utter joy to play.
