Really love this synth, even with all its limits.
I'm using it inside eXT because in my base host (Ableton Live) parameter editing is uneffective (d'oh).

What still I don't get is how can I use Farbrausch V2 multi-channel feature.
I'd like to create different patches, send them to different channel (1 to 15, 16 is for voice), and send via eXT sequencer different midi notes, to avoid loading more than one instance of Farbrausch V2.

Now I'm just able to create multiple midi out ports into the sequencer, and link them to different miditracks. But Farbrausch V2 has just one midi input, and I can't let it play all the midi sequences together.

How can I do it in eXT?

i dont have my music daw at the moment but i think it would go like this.
add 4 midi tracks
route them to Farbrausch
now make every track to a different midi out channel (track 1 - midi 1, track 2 - midi 2, etc.) to do this you need to set the tracks to manual setting as i think they default to automatic which doesn't let you do this edit.
now Farbrausch doesn't behave like a typical VST but more like a hardware synth when it comes to selecting patches. to change a preset per midi track you have to use eXT program changes as you can't do this within Farbrausch...

hope this helps

fliffo-
sweet_trip is correct:
Hit F9 with the sequencer open to get to the "O.Ch" selector. After doing this, the midi data coming from that track will be going to the respective channels in Farbrausch.

He is also correct about changing presets: the only way to select presets in Farbrausch is to send midi program change messages to Farbrausch through the respective midi channel.

I set every track to a different midi port (i.e. right click on each track and set OUTPUT to midi out 1, 2, 3, and so on...) but doesn't work...it plays just on track.

edit: no problem with preset changes...trying the f9 thing.

ok I'm such a newbie in eXT

mates can you explain me the difference between the procedure I used (right click miditrack and select midioutport) and this one (hit f9 and set midi channel) ??

First of all, is Farbrausch loaded inside your sequencer, or outside the sequencer in the modular window? In my response above, I assumed you had it inside your sequencer, in which case, you assign the midi track in the sequencer to the Farbrausch plug, not to a sequencer midi out port.

If Farbrausch is loaded in the main window (outside of the sequencer), you need only one midi port between the sequencer and Farbrausch. But you still need to assign different midi output channels (different than midi port) to each track in the sequencer. One midi port coming out of the sequencer can pass midi data on more than one midi channel.

Write back, if this still doesn't make sense!

Good luck,

ok...now it's clear as water!
Farbrausch was outside the sequencer...I was just setting ports, not cannels :-)
thankyou!

It's a real pity that this synth hasn't some kind of button to focus on each channel for editing each channel patch...

yeah, i know.

i think it should'vr worked outside the sequencer fine. you probably didn't need to add more than one port. you would have to set the midi tracks the same as above and Farbrausch to Recieve All midi channels(??)

Post

exactly...It worked like that:
I put farbrausch outside the seq. (I usually put vsts outside sequencer) I create multiple midi tracks with different channels routed to that midi port that connects to Farbrausch V2...et voilà

This synth does sound great but I never use it because you can only have one instance and the multi channel thing was always such a PIA. :(
I wish the developer would re-write it to make its operation a bit more standard. :)

it's something in the first positions of my personal wishlist... I've never seen a synth with such a full sound and such light on cpu.

I absolutely love the sound of this synth. It's the GUI problems that made me throw it out. I have no problem using it's multi-tim but it's behaviour is overwhelming. Once you start making very involved patches, the ability to re-open the plugin and have your settings sitting where they were before is something I can't do without. The GUI fix would easily make it second only to Crystal IMHO. What a shame...

For anyone who's been missing the V2 in their modern setup, native VST3 x64 port of it:

https://github.com/dejansubotin/Farbrausch-V2-VST3-x64 (https://github.com/dejansubotin/Farbrausch-V2-VST3-x64)

It's not a reimplementation, the original DSP engine is intact. I know the original had all kinds of issues with modern DAWs — the blacklisting in Cubase, the window that wouldn't close in some hosts, the 32-bit limitation. This seems to sort all of that out. The multitimbral channel selection actually works properly now too.

If you were a fan of that gritty digital sound, might be worth grabbing. Still free, still sounds like nothing else.
