I noticed there was no thread on the production techniques of (detroit) electro. By Electro I mean music in the lineage of : Kraftwerk -> Cybotron -> Drexciya and all modern things influenced by those acts. The earlier branch of electro more influeced by early hip hop like Afrika Bambaataa, Mantronix, etc is also welcomed.

I don't have any question in particular, I just wanted to create a thread for people to share any ressources they want here or ask any questions they desired. I will get the ball rolling with this gem of a video. Audio only of DMX Krew creating a track from start to finish.

The finished track is called three days of Entropy.

Cheers

Keep it about the idea, not about production shizz layering layers of production shizz.

606, 808, some extras, tapes, some synths? I dunno. I used those when I made some Electro.

Short delays. Run shit through guitar pedals. Use pitch shifters on drums.

Probably not the answer you were looking for, but:
What are you rebelling for? What does your utopia sound like? Express that.
Certainly helped here.
