If you could control GAS, would you?

I spent last year fine-tuning my setup, which led me to start prototyping something and I'm considering turning it into a product. I’d love honest feedback to see if it’s worth releasing.
The idea is a tool that:
• Shows what hardware & plugins you actually use vs what just sits there
• Highlights overlap (multiple tools doing the same job)
• Compares any new products you’re considering to what you already have
• Helps you make better decisions before buying new gear
• Tracks how much money you save over time
Gear is fun, so the idea isn't to stop buying it, just reduce wasted money and decision fatigue.
Would something like this actually be useful to you? If so, would you pay a small amount for it if it helped you better understand and manage your setup?

I just want to be Yngwie Malmsteen. Will it help me do that?

Something that shows what I'm not using and lets me delete them all at once would be very welcome. The rest wouldn't be useful to me, although I could see you monetizing it by offering buy buttons with affiliate links.

Directly? No. But it may help you be more focused if that's your goal.telecharge wrote: Fri Mar 27, 2026 8:10 pm I just want to be Yngwie Malmsteen. Will it help me do that?

Except ChatGPT is horrible about remembering things you tell it accurately, never mind keeping track of your setup.VOODOO U wrote: Fri Mar 27, 2026 8:35 pmChatGPTdjanthonyw wrote: Fri Mar 27, 2026 7:48 pm • Compares any new products you’re considering to what you already have

I don't think that would be the best option if I'm trying to help people with GAS.Uncle E wrote: Fri Mar 27, 2026 8:12 pm although I could see you monetizing it by offering buy buttons with affiliate links.

I would love to have a tool that does all the plugin benchmarking for me. Aliasing, latency, CPU/RAM/disk usage, automation options, input/output channels, GUI size/behavior and so on. Unfortunately it's impossible to program something like that, it would have to be as smart as a human being...

Interesting. I have quite a few chat topics saved and it has no issues remembering past discussions with new ones when certain specifics pertain to one another.djanthonyw wrote: Fri Mar 27, 2026 8:40 pm Except ChatGPT is horrible about remembering things you tell it accurately,
Nothing against what you're doing but I can do that no problem. It's a matter of keeping things simple.never mind keeping track of your setup.

Thing is, some of my purchases (cough IK, cough) have everything installed, if not authorized. I use a handful of the TrackS plugs, and I have many of them. I make templates with the modules I use, and if I want something else, usually something latency inducing, I'll just pick it out of the long list of modules.
But afaik, I can't delete TrackS modules without deleting the whole shebang.
I wouldn't want to feel 'nagged' at because I'm not using every single plugin that I own.

Thanks. It looks interesting, but doesn't seem to track plugin usage. It seems that you just manually choose what you don't want active like a regular plugin manager?Uncle E wrote: Sat Mar 28, 2026 8:53 pm djanthonyw, in case you haven't seen this:
