Hello all, I am hoping I can find some help here.
I played bass in a Country cover band from 2019 thru 2021. We played a bunch of classic & contemporary country songs and a few Southern Rock songs. Our singer and acoustic player had an idea for a country version of “With a Little Help from My Friends.” We worked it out and while it was still coming together we recorded it so we wouldn’t forget the arrangement. When I say we recorded it, I mean we played live all in the same room with amplifiers and vocals through a PA. We used ONE omnidirectional mic in the center of the room fed into an iPhone. It is a surprisingly good recording. Our electric player and I provided backing vocals and alternately the call and response vocals. Our guitarist - Dave S. – recently passed away from cancer. I wanted to try to split the track using an AI splitter and import the stems into a DAW and actually produce the track for his family. I have successfully separated each instrument and the “vocals” from the instruments. I have been unsuccessful however in separating the vocal harmonies i.e. Dave’s voice and my voice from each other. Dave’s vocal parts are pretty solid but I was hoping to rerecord mine. In order to do that I need to separate the harmonies – his voice singing one part and my voice singing another part – from each other into separate stems. In searching online, I have found the typical recommendations like Lalal, Gaudio, Moises and Voice.AI. These are very effective at separating vocals from instruments and sometimes lead vocals from backing vocals, but none seem to be able to do what I am describing. I would appreciate any help in this regard. Thanks!

Hi, you can try isolating the individual voices with Melodyne 5. Editing polyphony is not possible in the Melodyne 5 Essential and Assistant starter versions.

HOWEVER, Melodyne 5 Editor and Studio should both be able to do it. You can test all the features of Melodyne 5 Studio for 30 days free of charge.

Good Luck! :phones:
