Will be interesting to see if they do anything with it.

It was a fantastic DAW. I started my music making journey with Acid and Magix Music Maker back in 2000/1. Saw it change owners from Sonic Foundry -> Sony -> Magix -> now Boris FX. I read somewhere that the original dev left when Sony took over. Sony and Magix didn't do much. Hopefully BorisFx will change that. Time will tell.

trigger warning : Boris do subscriptions. Soundforge is £9.58/month, its actually more than Samplitude is.

If I can use magix on d drive then I am intrested esp with the vst's included.. not the one they bought so we will see what happens with it... I remember buying acid in 2000 2001 sometime and never being able to get past the copyright protection... magix on the other hand I had bought at circut city and enjoyed alot...

Over the past 10+ years or so I have definitely used Samplitude, Soundforge and Vegas on a drive other than C:\

I own SoundForge 16 and got the email from BorisFX. Their FAQ says:

P.S. I hate subscriptions so I will not upgrade. I just want to continue using the version I have. Especially once I get a new PC.
I created an account and nothing shows up. Can't these things ever go smooth?Q: I purchased Vegas Pro, Sound Forge, or Acid Pro from MAGIX. What happens to my lifetime license?
A: Your license is still valid. Create or sign in to your Boris FX account using the same email from your original purchase, and your license will show in your account. From there, you can purchase an upgrade to the latest version with Boris FX licensing and support.

The subscription model is optional. They have perpetual licenses too and there is no reason to assume that this is going to change. In all regards it's the same as with Magix i.e. there's nothbing new here in this regard.

There's an upate announced ("coming soon"), so most probably yes.

Any information on if they have acquired and will support Magix Sound Forge Audio Studio?
I've had a licence for Audio Studio for years, since it's cheap and I don't need all the bells and whistles of Sound Forge Pro.

I wonder if the Magix versions can still be activated if we need to re-install them. Looks like moving a current license over to the new BorisFX version requires a paid upgrade.
Surely there must be consensus by now...

I contacted them as none of my Magix software shows up in my account. They replied to say they are still working on merging licences. I'm not finding the upgrade prices for Vegas and especially Sound Forge 2026 to be overly appealing.

I was put into warp drive with Acid and magic mushrooms. Then years later i used the program a few times.
