Waves Curves AQ, Equator, Resolve vs the "originals" ?

With these new Waves plugins I'm a bit confused to which other plugins I can compared them to ?
let me know if I got this right:
Curves Equator can be directly compared to Soothe2 ?
Curves AQ can be directly compared to Gulfoss ?
Resolve can be directly compared to TrackSpacer ?
is there anything extra that Waves plugins bring vs the competitors ?
I really want to avoid Waves because of their update plan
( I rather pay 4 times for a plugin and sleep peacefully knowing that on re-install I wont need to be forced to pay for upgrade. I already made a mistake buying Diamond Bundle of which I only use about 5 plugins, but to upgrade i have to pay for the entire bundle ) .
but if these Waves plugins really bring something that the others can't then I would highly consider buying one or more of them.

You can't reinstall the versions you own once they've been updated?

I've used Resolve and another free one that came out awhile ago. Resolve was very good at what iy does. Only difference is more controls on Waves.

Resolve is amazing, what other plugin does what resolve does? (I know there is a popular one but I cannot remember the name )
Ahh, track spacer is the other. I mean resolve is really fuc#ing good, I will check out TS
So trackspacer has not been updated since 2023 and resolve seems more "advanced" All I know is I side-chain my bass to the resolve on the break track and it makes the break pop out of the mix, its really crazy. Obviously my EQ skills suck which is why this probably makes such a big difference.

"what other plugin does what resolve does?"
Sonible pure Unmask, Techivation M-Blender, United Plugins Firespacer are others you could look into. I have these and Resolve but I still reach for Trackspacer the most. It's just fast and does the job right.

No, that's of course complete nonsense. All non-subscription licences are perpetual.Cuauhtli wrote: Sun Mar 29, 2026 7:41 pm You can't reinstall the versions you own once they've been updated?

TrackSpacer does it, but with some artefacts on some settings. It's time to improve it...t.o.t.s. wrote: Sun Mar 29, 2026 11:52 pm "what other plugin does what resolve does?"

I think Trackspacer is good for say kick/bass unclash. It seemed to make a busy synth against a vocal kind of gauzy, is the only way I can describe it. Resolve worked beautifully. Best part is that both of them have very little CPU hit.

Resolve does seem to hit the CPU slightly but I don't care, I bounce and don't think about it. If people have been able to use regular EQ's to get the same results I am getting with Resolve than massive props as I do not have the eq skills to pull it off.osiris wrote: Mon Mar 30, 2026 9:06 pm I think Trackspacer is good for say kick/bass unclash. Note: I have the other 2 Waves Curves/Equator plugins and they seem fine but they have not made an impact like resolve has made.

As much as I dislike Waves, I got the three plugins on a sale. They work. I use Curves AQ the most as a final polish on the mixbus or on problematic tracks. I only dial it in slightly, very slightly (like 10/100) and I always select the curve that looks closest to the original profile. Sometimes I'll dial the dynamic adjustment a bit back (like 50%). You can totally do the same with regular EQ + some dynamic EQ, it's not a lifesaver by any means, but it does the job. Equator also works well (and again I only dial it in very slightly), but honestly my favourite "soothener" is Focusrite Soften, I actually mix into it and it has very little impact on the mix.

I got TrackSpacer 2, it's good but it does extremely wide cuts, I would prefer narrow more precise cuts. and it's knob is way to sensitive, I always run it in 0.2-0.8%

I wish that Waves would go iLok.
It would solve so many problems!
