Only 2 I know of . The Roland Clound version, and the old PG8X, which hasn't been updated for years/no longer supported.

Are there more (that are not free SE/SM) ?

Are we talking about the same synth? I could have sworn I just bought one (No, not free) from somebody. I just don't remember who, I've bought so many plugins of late.

And all the hardware presets are there or can be imported via sysex.

I actually found the new presets, especially Saif's and Tal's own, more interesting to me.

And the Roland Cloud version is just a few presets in ZENOLOGY, not a fully modeled ACB JX-8P.

Yes. This isn't a legal issue. I have had experience with this. You are free to have a different opinion, but asking what I did - to change the colour scheme of the plugin - is not a problem. At all.

What if RC ultimately releases JX-8P and they decide they don't like something about your "dead on" JX-8P look that you so obtusely insist on?

I don't think you read my post. You cannot make TAL's plugin look like a "dead-on" coppy of the hardware, as I already explained. You can change the colours. This is not an issue.

And then they pull the exact same stint they did with Arturia, calling TAL and making them change your "dead-on, dead mice with funky colors, as close to hardware as possible" look?

I really am curious, what is the concern about phoning home occasionally?

I understand why some systems have to be air gapped or at least offline, but I am not sure I follow why an occasional call home is problematic.

1. The ability to work on air gapped machines or unstable internet. Doesn’t seem like an issue with TAL plugins though.

Is the colour scheme editor documented anywhere? No details in the manual, and they seem to affect the headers, slider labels and stuff differently, making tweaking being a little blind...

Trying the demo and meh....I find it does nothing impressive.

The TAL demo white noise makes me want to throw it against the wall.

But for $50 or whatever after taxes it's not bad just not needed here. Moving on......

Then you have u-he Diva, which can sound just like it and arturia's Jupiter 8 V, which is close enough.

So how many more do we need? It's not like the 8X P is the most amazing synth on the planet. And for $55, what I have currently are more than adequate substitutes.

(tl,dr; it still can be registered and used completely offline, even if or when Tal as a company is no more)

Glad he cleared that up. His poor communication on this subject was the biggest problem, and now it seems like maybe it was the only problem.
