Hi,
I’d like to share a project I’ve been working on and get some feedback from the community.
It’s called ZEG Audio Engine,is a standalone Windows application, not a plugin and not a DAW.
The idea is to explore a more structured and constrained workflow for mixing and mastering.
Instead of building flexible routing and plugin chains, the system uses a fixed signal flow approach:
Per-track processing (EQ, compression, imaging, limiting) Optional FX per channel Stereo mastering stage with full-chain processing
The goal is to reduce complexity and keep decisions focused on the result rather than setup.
Workflow
Import multitrack WAV stems (for example from hardware mixers / SD recordings)
Balance and process them in the Mixing Section
Move to the Mastering Section for final processing
Mastering can be done:manually or with assisted parameter suggestions (reference track + genre)
Key Features
Fixed processing chain (predictable signal flow)
Per-track processing modules
Auto-mix starting point (analysis-based)
Reference track comparison
Strength & precision scaling
Real-time waveform / spectrum / level metering
Platform-oriented presets (YouTube, Bandcamp, etc.)
I’m not trying to compete with DAWs or established plugin ecosystems.
This is more of an alternative workflow approach, especially for users who:
work outside a DAW or prefer a contained environment instead of modular chains
come from an audio engineering background rather than traditional software development.
AI tools were used during development to speed things up, but the workflow and processing decisions are based on practical audio use cases.
I’d really appreciate feedback on:
Signal flow logic
Processing behavior
Auto-mix usefulness
Mastering approach
Any obvious design limitations
If anyone is interested in testing, I can share a beta version.
Thanks for your time.
