Here on macOS Tahoe the demo is not even able to select a different screen size let alone remember it between instantiations.

The plug sounds incredibly good considering the samples are close approximations, so impressed. An SY77 was my main workstation for 30 years, I know (and love) the beast.

SysEx imports are flawless and saving an imported bank is nicely streamlined.

All systems go, a phoenix moment!

Ok, worked out the scale-drag from the bottom right, all good. Big thanks, O Sheaf, what a labour of love, buying right now.

Confirmed on Sequoia too.

On my hardware SY77 I have the Rock&Pop cards. I installed them in Swayed. When I play sounds from the data card do I then have to select the waveform rom card at the bottom right of the sysex screen or does it automatically select the right rom card and waves? If I have to select it why is it only visible on the sysex screen?

The Logic screen size remembering issue is on my to do list.

You have to select the right card. In the SysEx data there is mention of what card the patch is made for. (Well, based on the docs I thought there was a field reserved for that information, but in practice it never seemed to be used that way).

Once you actually select one of the SysEx patches to load, it internally becomes a Swayed preset which does have information about what card to use. It just uses the card ID you selected. When you save the preset it is stored with it. If you want to change it afterwards you can go into the AWM element and select another card as the waveform source.

Thanks sheaf! So if I understand you correctly I can load a sysex file, then choose the right card to go with it and once the whole collection is saved as a preset bank I no longer have to select the waveform card, it is just necessary when on the sysex window importing everything, after that it is no longer required.

This was my first proper synth back in 1989. I sold my M3R so I could afford it. It sounds exactly as I remembered.
Truly a labour of love. Bought it.

Just imported my all-time holy grail voice bank which has been sitting frozen in my SY77 for 10 years due to a broken floppy drive. The match is perfect, I just can't believe these are not the original samples.

And big thanks, Sheaf, for confirming that the GUI resize issue on Mac is on your radar, wonderful!

Was that from a floppy disk? How did you do that?

I've only had a super brief play so far, but this sounds really good and brings a different kind of polished rompler sound into the DAW that is pretty different sounding to other plugins. It certainly sounds like I remember the SY stuff sounding like, in that there are many sounds I really like, and others I don't like so much as per the Yamaha thing.

Some really good patches in there, and the interface is really nice. Hopefully this one will carve out a niche for itself, because it really is quite different to the other stuff out there. :tu:

Probably dumped via sysex, I'd expect.

Yes I guess so too. The reason I am interested is that I too have a broken floppy drive on the SY77 and several floppies with original sounds on them. Is there a way to get that info into the hardware SY77 or into Swayed with a floppy drive on the computer (which I probably still have somewhere :-))

Wanna have some real fun? Really did into the guts of this thing and start programming it. And I don't mean yet another Rhodes Piano. If you really get creative, you can get some amazing sounds out of this thing.

Even with the crappy reverb. :D

soundman007 wrote: Wed Apr 01, 2026 11:50 am The last paragraph of the manual is:
In the bottom right part of the screen you can select the waveform sources that will
be used for PRESET and CARD. By default there only the factory waveforms for PRESET
and the Swayed Expansion 1 waveforms for CARD. If you put additional ROM files in the
designated folder, they will be selectable here.

What is the designated folder? If it is the Waveforms folder then this does not work. I have
Yamaha SY77 WaveROM (IC220_8_MSB).BIN and YAMAHA_TG77_V102.BIN in there and they do not show up. All that shows is Swayed Expansion 1.
Files to load are (5632 KByte)
SY77 ROM 1 - 1024KB.bin
SY77 ROM 2 - 1024KB.bin
SY77 ROM 3 - 1024KB.bin
SY77 ROM 4 - 0512KB.bin
SY77 ROM 5 - 1024KB.bin
SY77 Drums - 1024KB.bin
So I'm kinda baffled, where is the designated folder, the manual does not specify?
