They where sampled, imported... and chopped.

Yeah - the MPC sample as a foundation is a great idea thou you could probably do full arrangements on it too if you lay down some time. There is song mode and what not. Cheers!

How long did it take to import and chop with the MPC Sample? Was it pretty straightforward? Not a lot of menus and key presses to get going?

No sampling is pretty straight forward, chopped the main sample and adjusted some start point and found a melody. The beat took let’s say 15 min max to draw out. So you could easily get things going within around 10 minutes. Barely any menu dives.

The work is digging for the right samples… the machine is quick.

I'm still waiting on Akai, years later. Bought an MPC Live, sold it, bought an MPC Studio sold it, then buckled once again on the MPC II. Was fine until the MPC desktop software started to get old and crashy. MPC3 software is after two years almost unfinished, still not doing more than one time signature a song, still no VSTi3 version.

Then comes this, MPC Sample actually would have been good enough all along for most of what I wanted out of the MPC, namely a drum machine that doesn't feel like a plugin that can load into a DAW, but again not certain anything will happen the way I would like, namely a VSTi3 version that loads into your DAW, or a quick way to drag MIDI into the DAW and use the MPC Sample as a hardware drum machine.

If you load it as a plugin in another DAW, I believe it will follow the host's BPM. Maybe it will also follow the host's time signature? I use it this way, anyway (albeit rarely), because the DAW I use is better for mixing.

Another jam, made two beats and messed around with flex beat fx:

Congrats, yeah they sold out pretty fast. Honestly thou I think that's a marketing phenomenon too, to create hype and fear of missing out so people really buy the next batch that will probably be a lot larger in units and not sell out. Anyway, it's a nice little machine. Let me know what you think later!
