You can't null two analog synths. You can't even null two recordings of the same analog synth. That's just physics.
But you could still expect similar behavior on similar synths as long as they don't have bad parts. It makes perfect sense that one analog synth may has its attack maxed out at 1.0s while the other one 1.1s, so you hear a difference and say hey the envelop is tighter on my hardware, and in reality what you need to do to match the sound is to turn the attack on the second one down to 90%... If you can create highly similar behavior with the two synths with slightly varied settings then yes that's tolerance. You'd only need to worry when you cannot make them sound even remotely similar, which means something else is happening.

Exactly. And you absolutely can make TAL's plugin sound like a JX8P (as exemplified by the comparison video). Minus the noise from the hardware (which you can always add if you're really so inclined).

This thing is just absolute love for anything pad related. Has a distinct 'hifi' vibe to it, like 80s Hifi, not too digital, not too dirty but more pristine. Thats what I love about software synths, when a developer puts in the work to make it a real musical instrument.
You can be creative in any right place on Earth, and not only in the wealthiest cities. Bring the world feelings from everywhere, and not only feelings of capitalistic or jail environment.

It sits fantastically well in a mix.
I needed a synth part for a song. A simple cyclical arp to run in the background. Tried a few synths but they either were too present or disappeared. This one however just say exactly where I wanted it to.

This is what made the JX-8P legendary. It’s the King of Strings.El°HYM wrote: Thu Apr 02, 2026 10:10 am This thing is just absolute love for anything pad related. Has a distinct 'hifi' vibe to it, like 80s Hifi, not too digital, not too dirty but more pristine.
It would have been a lot more famous if only it had been named after a Roman god, like Janus.
And then BONES would like it because he could call it Janus.
THIS MUSIC HAS BEEN MIXED TO BE PLAYED LOUD SO TURN IT UP

Love everything TAL does, including this but I really wish he either made his synths skin-able or hired a graphics artist to make them all look less drab and uninspiring.

Not at all.
Just correcting your obviously incorrect "point" all the way home. Because you are, after all, really wrong.

You know you can re-color this right? It's not 100% skinnable, but you can change just about every color to be less drab and uninspiring.pepelogu wrote: Thu Apr 02, 2026 2:12 pm Love everything TAL does, including this but I really wish he either made his synths skin-able or hired a graphics artist to make them all look less drab and uninspiring.

I gonna demo again because of that.
Thank you!

Many times JX-8P sitting well right from the start in the mix, w/o eq work at all, is a strength. One of the main reasons I like this synth.
Example: Typical analogue pads usually sound warm but without the low boom and low-mid mud. Plus there's the hp filter in front of the main filter for quick adjust in this regard.
When I'm composing, working on instrumentation and arrangement, I don't want to be interrupted by other things I have to do that is clearly belonging to the mix phase later in the process.

I just like TAL’s stuff. I don’t care about Roland synths or whatever. I like the synth as well, so
I bought it. I like the graphics too, preferring
the look and feel to competition really.
