I on the other hand, love Roland Synths, which is what brought me to Tal many years ago, and ended up loving Tal's synths.
This one and the J-8 in particular are in my top tier favourite emulations.

Agree with all that, especially with EH presets

Does anyone have the JX-10/MKS70 presets as a syx file? I've found one source - JX10BNK0-A.SYX (Roland JX-10 / MKS-70 Factory Presets) - but it only seems to have half the Tones (the first 50) in it, and is missing the second 50... I'll have a look around, but if anyone has them and can share, that'd be cool. I'm wanting to set up a dual-layer J-8X set of JX-10/MKS70 presets as best I can...

I had posted a link of a site that seems to have almost everything.

Another love song for the J8X. I didn't go as crazy on this one. Only 11 additional tracks. I tried to keep this low key so as they just simply supported the song rather than become the song. It's titled Jupiter In June.

Hope you like it.

PS - I'm still trying to wrap my head around how the J8 envelopes work. They're not like most synths.

And that concludes our discussion of TAL-J-8X.

Yes, and I stated above that the file I listed by name - which is the first JX10_MKS70_Collection-A.zip file from that exact site - that is supposed to be the JX10/MKS70 presets only has half the Tones, and is not complete, which was why I was asking if anyone has the actual complete presets.

My guess is the other missing 50 Tones are the ROM tones, and are thus not in the above bank as every JX10/MKS70 owner has them built in. But we'll need the sysex of those to import them into the plugin to recreate the factory JX10/MKS70 dual presets - they don't seem to be the same as the JX8P patches (some are, but some are not).

Envelope 1 and 2 are common ADSR. But you can invert them horizontally.

In the mixer section you can mix in/out dynamically OSC2 through env 1 or 2. Either normal ADSR or inverted horizontally.

In the VCA section, env 2 is loudness contour former or a 3rd "envelope", fix gate/organ type, is here available.

1 JX-10P bank consists of 50 Tones max. and 64 Patches. Each patch combines 2 Tones. Correct me if I'm wrong!

Edit: Now I understand. The 50 ROM Tones are missing and harder to find.

No offense, but these envelopes don't program like "normal" synths.

If I pull up the default patch and raise the attack time of ENV 1, nothing happens. If I pull up the attack time of ENV 2, nothing happens. Now with a normal synth (usually ENV 1) just raising the attack time will slow the attack. But here, it doesn't. So obviously, additional steps are required that are NOT required on a normal synth.

I have never used Roland synths before so this architecture is foreign to me.

That's not difficult. The default setting on the VCA is set to Gate (which is an organ-type on/sustain/off envelope). Change it to ENV2 and now the envelope is engaged. I think the default should be set to ENV2 personally.

Okay, I figured it out. This architecture is wacked. But I'll get used to it.

You are not wrong. But, the presets that use the Tones in the JX10/MKS70 in each layer, use both the RAM Tones (of which there are 50), and the ROM Tones (of which there are 50).

The presets syx file has the 50 RAM Tones. What we - the plugin owners - *don't* have is the 50 ROM Tones, and thus cannot recreate the JX10/MKS70 presets yet. So I'm asking whether someone has these 50 Tones - which by their name listings aren't the same as the JX8P patches - as sysex data, so we can also load those Tones into the plugin, and therefore recreate the factory dual-layer presets.

Hope that's clearer. Basically, I'm trying to turn the J-8X into a JX10/MKS70 using two instances - but I don't have all the preset Tones required.
