This is the big one for me.

Serum has amazing slicing capabilities particularly with the built in sequencer but the sample editing window was for ants.
It now does add a GUI/UX inconsistency where:

a) the sample edit window does pop out, unblocked to Serum's main GUI and the rest of them (LFO's, Wavetables etc) don't. Which can be a drag when you've clicked away from Serum's GUI for a second.

b) the styling of that window looks like it's not part of Serum.

Okay, well, I found this: https://forums.steinberg.net/t/we-teste ... ts/1007113

From last year, but it does include Serum 2. M4 Max seemed to be the ticket (for that plugin) at that point in time. Interesting. Across the board, probably 9950X3D or again, M4 Max.

I think it's great. Having a fully independent user resizable window is exactly what I was looking for.

I don't think sample editing windows particularly benefit from being sticky.

It's normally a case of opening it, doing your adjustments and closing it. All the right click functionality is there like changing the root key and sending it to the clip launcher etc.

It's effectively just a blown up version of the tiny sample window.

In other words, what’s proved to be the determining factors in CPU architecture, for being able to “max out” Serum 2?

Okay, obviously not truly maxing it out in every way. But you know what I mean: pushing it in the ways that really torture the CPU.

Does the prize go to AMD, Intel, or Apple? Or is it so close it doesn’t even matter..
Bounce your stuff. The cpu is high because the sound sources are very advanced and for now leading the pack with the exception of maybe Zebra 3 which is not even released yet. The only thing they can do about CPU is lower the quality, that's it.

You can still select the lowest tier CPU settings for work and then render at ultra quality.

My pc isn't the best but I can use multiple instances of Serum 2 without running into too many issues. But I just habitually bounce to audio because I much prefer the workflow. Although my projects end up being littered with audio tracks and no matter how sane I try to be, they get confusing.

How can you be so sure they can't do anything to further improve performance?
Are you in the dev team?

Enjoying the new K35 filter. Fun to set it up like an MS-20 with HP passing into LP.

You think the dev's are just lazy or never thought about performance? lol. Its cool to like other synths but keep in mind at the present time the oscillators are not as good as Serum 2. (Zebra 3 is a similar but also crazy on the CPU)

Still blurry UI for me - only 100% is fine!

Looks like you can now load wavetables directly into the sampler/granular/spectral oscillators. I think this is a new feature?

A Serum 2 feature request: bipolar macros. This allows a lot more versatility when combined with the remap system plus you've got bipolar warp modes like bend and asym. It's always annoying assigning either to a macro.

It is sort of possible to remap functionality to give you control over bipolar mod sources but it end up being super confusing.

Same here.

It’s because all text are graphics and Steve finds adding images for various zoom levels bloat… :o

Post

Do you find this blurry??
This is 150% on my system... (rightclick the image and open it in a new tab for full size) ...are you talking eventually about loading it in Ableton without turning their wonky software scaling option off?

This is blurry.
The blurriness is the same in all DAWs I tested. Bitwig, Live, Reaper, Luna. Same on macOS and Windows.
It's not unexpected once you know there are no dedicated images for each zoom level.
