I have been playing around with swayed almost the whole day. It feels like the real deal. Very playable; as frag put it, it plays like a real musical instruments.
Two wishes for future updates:
- ability to change presets in the librarian with cursor keys

Yep and beyond that will all of the resources we have a available now for FM programming from things like YouTube the FM side is easier than ever to learnUncle E wrote: Fri Apr 03, 2026 8:42 pm That's a good point. The SY77 was so much harder to program than SWAYED that I'm sure we'll soon be surpassing vintage presets.

Having issues loading some sysex banks with 'ERROR this is not a SySex file containing voices' flashing up. Does this mean the bank was saved on the SY77 with Multis? IE not as a 64 voices dump?

How much computing power does a machine need to run this plugin? I'm running a Lenovo Thinkpad Z61p from 2006, with a Core2 Duo T7600, 3GB DDR2, 1TB SSD and 32-bit Windows XP Pro SP3 and Cubase 5. I also have another laptop Thinkpad W520 with a Core Extreme i7-2960XM, 32GB DDR3, 500GB SSD and Windows 10 x64 and Cubase 15. What was your little trick to get it to run on 32-bit?frag wrote: Sat Apr 04, 2026 8:13 am I don't visit forums anymore, but I have to comment on this release.
We now have Swayed - Yamaha SY/TG77 emulator.
It even works on my old machine, using a cheap trick I can run it in 32bit sequencer from almost 20 years ago. Some presets with long release overload thread, but that's easy fix (split patch).

Okay, I have a bunch of sys and bin files in the waveform directory but none of them are shown as loaded. So I have no idea if I'm doing something wrong or if this feature just doesn't work. I don't want to waste my time doing something that can't be done.

I downloaded these and they don't show up. What am I doing wrong?Etienne1973 wrote: Tue Mar 31, 2026 8:32 pm
External Delays and Reverb used. Mostly FM Patches. High quality stuff IMO.![]()
256 SY77 presets downloadable. Should be importable as *.syx bank files into Swayed v1.0 right away AFAIK.

Congratulations to the developer who was stubborn enough to make an SY77 emulation in every aspect which sounds as close as possible as the original hardware.
I think that was/is important for that category of true emu products.
At least for 1.0 initial release. More features can come for sure and are welcome here.
Thank you for your time and hard work!
Now I'm testing the demo with pleasure.![]()

Because of this I just tried here to see whether it worked to verify the behaviour you see - I copied the bin files to the Swayed waveforms directory, ran Swayed, checked they showed in in the Waveform ROMs page (they did), created an init AWM voice, and then picked waveforms from whatever card I had.wagtunes wrote: Sat Apr 04, 2026 6:49 pm Okay, I have a bunch of sys and bin files in the waveform directory but none of them are shown as loaded. So presumably you're doing something wrong as it seems to work just fine here.
Edit: It's interesting to see how well Sheaf managed to matched the Yamaha internal waveforms - super good job on that!
In the main, the Yamaha waves are pretty much the expected, short samples and are not that interesting, or much different from anything else from around that time - although I do have a bunch of drum RY30/RM50 cards I used a lot in my RM50 + samples that it might be interesting to try. Other than that, user sample import would probably unlock a lot more potential in the engine when it comes...
Note that not every card has SYX files alongside it for the patch/preset data - I'm not sure if the data cards containing the preset data can be loaded/imported directly (I don't think so).

This is what my screen looks like.

Here is what my waveform folder looks like.

So please tell me how I'm doing anything wrong.

I can't see your images because imgur is blocked in my country, so really can't advise any further.

Ok, I saw them via a VPN. It seems like you've put sysex files in the waveforms folder for some reason. That won't do much - sysex files are preset data, not samples/waveforms.
The waveform BINS (if you have them) go into that Waveforms folder (self-explanatory). The syx files can be anywhere, because you have to import/load them manually using the Sysex page in the library.

Click the Library icon to the left of the patch name. Click the tab that says SYSEX.

Okay, I figured it out. I assume you can only have 1 sysex file in memory at a time. So if you want to use the presets from a different one you have to load that file in. Is there a way to save these presets so that I don't have to keep swapping sysex files?beely wrote: Sat Apr 04, 2026 7:54 pm Ok, I saw them via a VPN.
