I was kind of surprised how it sounded fairly decent. I don't know how much credit I can take. The waveform looks like there was compression on export. I didn't know what a compressor was, so…who knows what else was baked in by GarageBand.seismic1 wrote: Sat Apr 04, 2026 9:28 pm 'e1' has a pleasant, light vibe and is very relaxing to listen to. The sound/mix is good, too. Very impressive for a debut track.
Good work![]()

'M150' - a malapropism in one of the earlier reviews of this actually turned out to be quite apt in terms of describing the atmosphere/vibe of the piece, imho. It's definitely got a lazy, languid feel, well suited to viewing the progress of clouds across the sky. Take a listen to 'Nuages' by King Crimson. I think it has a lot of similarities, especially in the overall feel.

I wasn't familiar with the Crimson track but I did listen, and I can see the comparison. Thanks for the listen seismic1.seismic1 wrote: Tue Apr 07, 2026 10:05 pm 'M150' - a malapropism in one of the earlier reviews of this actually turned out to be quite apt in terms of describing the atmosphere/vibe of the piece, imho. Sounds great! I remember those HK sound sticks as being a background lab prop in Steven Spielberg's A.I. movie.eassae wrote: Tue Mar 10, 2026 12:17 pmYeah, I've definitely upgraded my equipment since the first track. I remember mixing it on those clear Harmon Kardon Soundsticks, and Garageband was super basic. Now I have solid monitors, a good piano, and more plug-ins than you can shake a stick at.aaron aardvark wrote: Tue Mar 10, 2026 2:54 am eassae,
Thank you for the review! Now your "e1": sound quality was better than I anticipated for some reason (good); probably because it was 20 years old. I think it sounds interesting and pleasant. Could be good with a video. "M150": I am guessing your plugins (my assumption) are of better audio quality than what was available 20 years ago? Sounds pretty cool. I can picture this as movie background music (a bit like Nine Inch Nails). I started doing multi-track recording in 1984 with a 4-track cassette recorder, and plugins were a long way from being released.
I had a little Tascam 4 track even earlier than I started producing music. I was a raver kid in the late 90s and did the DJ thing—mostly d&b and trip-hop. I'm not sure why I bought the 4 track or what I intended to do with it, but I think it just sat next to my turntables for a few years if I remember correctly.
Thanks for listening.

Very nice. The first song reminds me a bit of Tetris (I wouldn't know, I'm only 15 lol).eassae wrote: Mon Mar 09, 2026 8:12 pm I was looking through old files a few months ago and found my very first track, e1, that I produced with Garageband. According to the metadata It was created 20 years ago today. So, In honor of that I felt I needed to put something together this morning for the milestone.
