Can someone put together and curate a real good sysex library and share online? It would be highly appreciated.

Yeah, looks like it…

So, why would you say to choose this every time?
And if you did - you'd want to pick the correct expansion card (that you've downloaded and installed in the waveforms folder)

Or am I missing something?

I didn't say that. You said, you should leave this setting alone when importing sysex files. I gave an example of when that setting is important. (Which is why that setting is there in the first place).

Correct.

Hi sheaf, I am playing with the demo now for quite a while now and so far I am really impressed by this instrument. It sounds great and is easy to program. Very impressive.

As a longtime DX7 user I´m desperately missing one feature though or maybe just can´t find it. How do I temporarly mute single operators in the FM-Matrix? This feature is crucial for me when creating or editing complex FM-sounds and it is available on every FM synth that I know incl. the TG77.

Also I am missing a midi-learn option for midi-ccs and the possibility to send program changes. Good luck with that great project.

A question which maybe reflects relative ignorance. (SY hardware was so tough to edit I tended to mostly use the 77 as a preset machine although I did come up with some wonderful kinetic FM sounds.)

Suppose I have a patch with two AWM sources and I need to import one or two particular AFM patches. Is there currently no way to do this without literally building the AFM layers from scratch? So far I've been working the other way round, ie finding an AFM element first then adding AWM elements, much easier.

Copying and pasting an element does not seem to work between patches, or am I mistaken here?

It would be a fantastic future update if it became possible to browse AFM patches and add them to a preexisting AWM setup. I realise FX settings and routings would change but those could quite easily be tweaked.

To me such functionality would be just as cool as turning SWAYED into an SY99 - the machine I always lusted after - by adding sample import features.

Thank you! Yes, muting operators is high priority on my to do list. What's the desired workflow with program changes? I've never really used that myself so I'm not sure. Is a program change message an index into a preset bank, or a SysEx message with an entire patch?

You can copy paste between patches. Right click an element (top right) and select "copy element". Then select another patch and right click on an element -> "paste element". You can only copy AWM elements on AWM elements and AFM elements on AFM elements. So if you want to paste an AWM element into a 2AFM patch you first have to change its voice mode to 2AFM&2AWM before you can paste it into there.

Sometimes I go through the patches in a SysEx bank and every time I hear something that might be an interesting layer, I copy the element, and then simply paste it into notepad (windows)/notes (mac). It's just a text string with a bunch of numbers afterall. In the end I have a text doc with a list of interesting elements that I can paste into a fresh patch. So it might look something like this:

Code: Select all

Piano: SWAY-AWM 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

You can just select one of these lines in notepad, copy it, and then paste it in.

Selecting a bank and then changing the presets from the masterkeyboard would be perfect for my taste. Just like on the DX7 where you have 32 buttons and with each you select a different preset in the loaded bank. Combined with midi-learn and a midi controller this would feel much more like a real instrument to play it live. Thats basically how I use plugins most of the time, playing them like a hardware synth.

Oh, .... . . . . . . . i am so late !

i do the purchase NOW !!!
OK i was in beta test team, and Sheaf sent me my lifetime license, but i consider this as a trust from him.
SWAY is a dream for all TG77 owners, and this has a price.
i often use lots of other VST and softwares found... "elsewhere on the web"... :D
but Sheaf work will be retribued.

I see, so the program change message is simply a number that references a preset. I could make something like that work, but I'm not sure if the program number should refer to a preset in the currently filtered preset list, or to a preset in the currently loaded SysEx bank. Both are not optimal:

SysEx: You cannot have presets utilizing different cards in one bank. You also have to select the right card when loading the bank.

Preset manager: You probably have to create a special bank for the presets you want to select from. There is no real notion of presets having a "number", they're just sorted alphabetically. So if you later decide to add another preset to the bank the ordering changes. I guess this is where preset playlists would be very useful, but that's a lot of work to implement.

I'm open to suggestions.

Sorry about that repost, Sheaf! I meant to simply edit my prior post to specify requesting reverb bypass on the GUI, not to post anew. Clicked the wrong buttons and went on with my life without thinking about it. :hihi: Happy to hear that's in the works.

I think that's sy.factory's format - anyone with a licensed copy of that should be able to load/convert them. Although sharing them here will be prohibited, of course.
