Vibe coded plugins:
They pop up everywhere with high frequency.
I do not trust them and will not use them.
Too risky.

Devs have been copy-pasting code in the wild for years. This is just the next evolution.

Pretty sure a couple of plugins I'm currently using are partly or mostly vibe coded. And they all work.

Only real fear is that the developer goes dark and stops supporting. But that could happen whether the plugin is vibe coded or not - Vital being a perfect example.

I can only say that the Instesect slicer is very good, and vibe-coded. It's code is on Github so everyone who wants can check it. So far it didn't made any problems on my PC, at least for my knowledge. I wouldn't blindly trust them, but if the plugin interest me and is open source with many stars on Github and there are people who already used them and didn't notice anything wrong then I'll probably give them a try.

Understood, but how do you feel about We-Vibe plugins?

What about Uni-Vibe plugins?

We had this issue over 20 years ago with SynthEdit plugins, and people were still making baller music.

Always fun making music with core dumps and memory leaks, builds character.

What happened with Vital? Admittedly, I have never gelled with this one synth (if I want complex, I'll use Surge, if I want simple, well, there's a plethora of synths out there). But has it been abandoned? Isn't it open source anyway?

What happens when a guy builds in malware into the plugin?

The same could be said for any application at all—not just vibe coded applications. Use your virus protection, scan for malware, and check the reputation of any apps. The same thing that’s been being done for the last 20+ years.
Vendor‑Dependent Copy Protection: Customers lose. Pirates win.
(Also: I'm Accused of lying about Linux—it boots, runs my pro audio workflow, stays stable, updates--though yearly dismissed as “niche”. Yet I'm the deluded one.)
