I own VV4 and have purchased Kawai legacy, HX-Oddy and HX-20 in the meantime.

So my offer is 99 for Casio Legacy and 3 libraries I don't particularly want. I guess I might cave in the next month? I do really like the sound of the Casio patches in Cameron's walkthrough and I use these kind of sampled synths all the time.

If I want something from UVI from a project I just subscribe for a month or two then turn off the sub. You get instant access to everything that way

Do you have to be constantly online to use the bundle ? or how often do you have to reconnect ? THX

I'm curious how the new Casio synths overlap with the older Cameo collection.

It looks like the main difference would be that the new Casio legacy instruments now only have one oscillator versus 2 in the Cameo version. Also, there was the CM version in Cameo that had basic wavetable function (phase distortion & wave selection) on 2 oscillators but now in the new version none of those instruments have that.

The Cameo version was kind of like a hodge podge of different Casio synths made for sound design while the Casio legacy is based on having one oscillator or multi sample based on 5 particular synths. This new version is more aligned with UVI’s Emulator & Kawai products which focus on more of being an multi instrument+ drum machine conglomerate instead of individual synths that are used for sound design.

No you go online and authorize it to your iLok account the day you subscribe (you don't need the dongle) and then you don't have to be online again and it will just expire a month or a year later

Since the iLok system has an internal clock and calendar separate from the one in your OS it just uses that to set the expiration date

Unlike the Roland Cloud system that failed for me minutes before a gig, the UVI way of doing things has been rock solid for me with absolutely zero issues

I don't own Falcon or the older Vintage Vault, but I have some others such as Ircam Solo Instruments 2, String Machines 2, Plate, and a few freebies (Sparkverb, Mello, Digital Synsations, etc.). Also, I think Model D and HX-Oddy were freebies at some point too, or I bought them for cheap on sale.

Same here, own EVERYTHING from UVI. But this is quite typical most developers, so not unique to UVI.

I own Falcon. I own one or two of the Vintage Vault bits. I own a bunch of their stuff and the pricing is $299 when I log in They did say on vi-control to contact support if the pricing didn't seem right.

Maybe VirtualCZ would be an option. It's often on sale (currently 18 Euro) and the CZ topic would be done as any sound you want can be dialed in. IMO those UVI collections make sense if there is no emulation available yet but when you can have a real synth, why limit yourself with static samples?

I used to be anti-sample-based instruments, for a long time. But if you need bread and butter, or if you want to layer sampled instruments with synthesis, to build bigger patches, I think the UVI sampled instruments together with Falcon is the best there is (potentially Omnisphere is a competitor).

VirtualCZ is not being developed anymore, right? Who knows when it stops working on newer systems (with newer OS's)? And as far as I know, it doesn't even have a scalable interface. I don't know for sure, I haven't had it installed for a long while. I would go with Arturia CZ V instead.

No, perhaps not MiniMoog samples, MiniMoog is a quite limited synth, so it wouldn't make too much sense. But there are other synths I definitely could use sampled patches from (especially if they're not available as factory presets on the real synth, or the emulation). Using those as a foundation to build something more... "massive", definitely

I know that you can layer sounds from synth emulations quite easily in most DAWs, but not as easy as in i.e. Falcon.

I see quite a few people have the same opinion but I'm not sure you, or those other people, really get the point of Vintage Vault which isn't what you're implying. They create patches on the real gear, deeply sample them, and then add tweaks for users to make on their end. They're not intended to be emulations.

And frankly, quite a few of the instruments in VV aren't available anywhere else. You mention one that has been done to death but where does one get an Andromeda emulation? Or a Voyetra Eight?

Sure why not. I also have multiple Minimoog plugins including some really good ones. The samples and patches of the Minimoog inside of Vintage Vault just represent a different flavor and sound really good

Beyond that it also has Moog Voyager samples which if you like the Minimoog you will also love

And of course there are many Synths in Vintage Vault that there isn't a good emulation of as a plugin, or that you might find useful on a track or two but not enough to buy a plugin for

The cool thing however is when you load these into Falcon they become building blocks to transform them into other thing

My favorite thing to do with them is to load them into Falcon and apply the "Redux" effect on them which is a REALLY good bit crusher and sample rate reducer and run then at 12-14 bits and around 30-35kHz

Now you don't just have Minimoog samples, now you have the sound of a Minimoog and all the other vintage Synths as if someone recorded them and loaded them into a vintage sampler

Yes yes, I know that there are many more synths for which not all are emulations available yet (I have VV4 myself). I was strictly refering to CZ and MiniMoog because for these we have multiple emulations.
Maybe it's just different preference then!
I got VV only for the things not emulated yet.
If you guys like to use it complementary to emulations that's of course fine as well.
Btw. I didn't know that VirtualCZ is no longer developed. However, it's VST3 so I guess it will be usable for at least the next 10 years on Windows. Mac is a different story of course with all the breaking changes there.
