Was skimming through task manager, and noticed it. Looked it up online, and learned it is some type of audio enhancement device on Windows, though the description was vague to me.

My main concern isn't necessarily CPU/processing performance, but hearing true. When I'm recording, mixing, mastering, I want to know I'm hearing as raw as possible. If this WavesSysSvc64 is doing background EQing etc., that gives me pause.

Anyone have a clearer understanding of what it's doing in the background?

I wonder why Windows would use a name like "waves" when I think of the Waves company and found this
- "WavesSysSvc64.exe is an executable file associated with the Waves MaxxAudio service"

Did Waves company license a product like this for computers?
- I have a plugin MaxxBass I think it was

If mixing through ASIO, I wonder if this service plays a roll at all, but guessing a bit.

Using the built audio cards in PC you might though, but I've seen many settings for audio enhancement, if to use them or not.

I would not worry about it.

And yeah, that's what came to my mind too when I saw it running in the background. I first thought it was just connected to a plugin.

Evidently, the device used mostly in Dell PCs, which I just purchased a little less than a year ago.

If you are worried about transparency, then do some loopback tests with the Rightmark Audio Analyser, in asio or other modes.
