Well now I know the end times are upon us. All the signs are there: chaos, pestilence, wars, and....a new version of Vital.
Odd there is no mention of it on his forums yet. I ran the Windows installer through Virus Total and it was clean, scanned with Bitdefender here same thing.
So I guess it's legit. I'll install and see how it goes......

I'm completely serious, I definitely did not expect any of those things.RPH wrote: Sat Apr 11, 2026 3:17 pmFor the pro version or subscription version, or are you joking?concealed identity wrote: Sat Apr 11, 2026 1:51 pm I didn't expect an additional oscillator, a granular engine, and new filter models.

I only see the original 3 Oscs (plus SMP) and it's been so long since I used Vital I don't remember which filters it had.concealed identity wrote: Sat Apr 11, 2026 3:22 pmI'm completely serious, I definitely did not expect any of those things.RPH wrote: Sat Apr 11, 2026 3:17 pmFor the pro version or subscription version, or are you joking?concealed identity wrote: Sat Apr 11, 2026 1:51 pm I didn't expect an additional oscillator, a granular engine, and new filter models.
I only have the Plus version.

What version of Vital do you have? Free, Plus,Pro, or Subscription?whassup wrote: Sat Apr 11, 2026 3:40 pm Yeah, I didn't expect any of these either, not in one point something that is.
But in 2 point oh.

Sorry for having added to the confusion:
I have the free version and I haven't seen anything new in version 1.60.
Concealed Identity said that he didn't expect these things.
He didn't say that he now HAS these things in the newest version.

So the Mac installer .pkg is less than half the size of previous versions, which indicates some important bits might be missing. Which might explain why the synth doesn't bloody work!Old Norse wrote: Sat Apr 11, 2026 1:31 pm 1.6.0 refuses to run on MacOS Sequoia 15.7.5 (Intel). Says it's not compatible with this Mac.
It's cocktail o'clock here in Scandinavia, so I'll return to this on Monday. If anyone stumbles across Mr. Tytel on Discord, please give him a heads-up!

I didn't get concealed identity's sarcasm and apparently I'm not alone....whassup wrote: Sat Apr 11, 2026 3:54 pm Sorry for having added to the confusion:

I read it as he did have those things in his version. I would totally support new features in the Pro or Subscription levels so they could finally get something for the extra money they paid.
I was also hoping that new features in the Pro version would be a reason for me to upgrade but alas it remains the fact that there is absolutely no reason to upgrade from Plus to Pro.
Oh well the fact that Vital has finally shown signs of life after such a time is something to be grateful for although there has been no activity on the Vital forums from Matt so that hasn't changed.
To be honest I don't see any changes at least in the Plus version so I assume it must be bug fixes (finally) so better that than nothing.

I loaded the Mac .pkg into Suspicious Package which said that the files included are Apple Silicon only. I've loaded it into Logic 12.2 in Tahoe and it's working (took a minute before the AU registered – I had to quit and reload Logic to see it).Old Norse wrote: Sat Apr 11, 2026 4:23 pmSo the Mac installer .pkg is less than half the size of previous versions, which indicates some important bits might be missing. It's been so long since I used Vital that I can't see anything that is especially different. If a patch has unused oscillators or filters, those areas are greyed out. Is that different from before? [EDIT: It always did that]. The envelopes have an additional visualization when a note is played to show the effect of velocity modulation in its shape, which may or may not be new.

I think they meant, "I didn't expect it so it's fine that we didn't get it" rather than what it seems to mean, "I got some things that I didn't expect to get."RPH wrote: Sat Apr 11, 2026 3:17 pmFor the pro version or subscription version, or are you joking?concealed identity wrote: Sat Apr 11, 2026 1:51 pm I didn't expect an additional oscillator, a granular engine, and new filter models.
Surely there must be consensus by now...

I rather expect a 2.0 than any upgrades to the paid versions of 1.x which didn't happen in all those years.Teksonik wrote: Sat Apr 11, 2026 4:36 pm I read it as he did have those things in his version. And until then I won't hold my breath.

I'm afraid at the current rate of development a 2.0 would come long after the fall of civilization.

So there was no change log in the installer? And nobody has seen anything new? So then safe to assume only bug fixes. Still good but would be nice to know what was fixed.
