What does the swarm intelligence think:
Are UVI effects better, worse or same level as other established dev collections like Arturia, Eventide and Softube?

Post

Get the free Spark Verb.
I'd put them at the same level with the others, pro all the way.

Post

I have Shade, Relayer, and Sparkverb. I have no complaints.

Relayer is one of the better delays. So many things you can control on it. Shade is also great. I use Thorus all the time also. Also Opal is very underrated. I did not take to Dual Delay or Drum Designer and I haven't made up my mind on Bloom yet.

have opal, plate, relayer and spark verb. I´d say opal, relayer and plate are "best on class", or at least very strong contenders. something in sparkverb doesn´t jive with me, but you know how reverbs go.

Relayer was a slam dunk when they offered it free last year at plugin botique.. can't say bad things about thier stuff..

Whats Opal like for CPU?
Is it on the same quality level as Relab 176?

It never gets mentioned in compressor shoot outs and I hate demoing compress

Post

UVI verbs are top notch

Very good comp, La2a style, heavier CPU than most. Relab 176 is in a league of its own.

I was going to add that. Opal is a little heavier on CPU than most compressors, but put it on a snare and you won't take it off.

A little heavier??

On my system most compressor plugins take about 3-5% of a single core at max while I am not using fancy stuff...maybe there are more CPU hogs out there I do not have...
Opal is taking a whooping 20% ...4 times more than others... that´s for me a bit more than a "little heavy"...
For 20% on a Ryzen 9 core it should not just be good sounding ...it should be more in the range "sh*t to gold converter" ...

If I compare my other plugins: I don´t have any other FX plugin that takes that amount of CPU for a single instance ...mostly I avoid using it (got it for free) because of that CPU hunger...

I just have thrown (for testing and to make it more visible for 1 core usage) 3 instances of Opal on a simple Kickdrum...
This is the CPU Meter of Bitwig which is dancing up and down like crazy ... 1 Peak = Kick hit ...
I guess because of the huge CPU hit they take the CPU just when it´s actual processing audio... this is the way to let your CPU meter dance to the rhythm... 8)
I would never pay any money for it...

.
With the other UVI plugins (I think I have them all except Plate) I don´t have any problems though...

Dual Delay X is great, it gives you a lot of ways to get creative with it but has a really intuitive UI. One of the best all-rounder delays out there imo

I don't get 20% from Opal, but I also think I turned off the waveform display at the bottom. That always helps.

Shade is a great tool ! But they should do an MK2....and make it even greater
"Plugin has turned Drug now"....and the business knows it.

If Shade had parallel processing it would be one of the best FX around
