This is odd. If the Mac VST3 is installed into Cubase under Rosetta, an Unsupported ARM_64 version is blocklisted but Vital is still available and runs as v1.5.5. If run under Silicon, it shows as v1.6.0. and runs as v1.6.0. There is no visible or sonic diff between the two.

One other thing: the actual VST Mac Info box shows v1.6.0 and under Rosetta, Cubase's Plug-In Manager lists it as v1.5.5...then 1.6.0 under silicon. Never seen behavior like that before. Here's what Archichect shows:

All in all, it behaves exactly like it did on the previous v1.5.5 release.

I tested "VitalInstaller.pkg" (1.6.0, for macOS) with the Virustotal.com Scan Engines and got the verdict from the Microsoft subscanner (1/61 scanners only): "Trojan:Script/Wacatac.B!ml"

See here:

The previous VitalInstaller.pkg 1.5.5 didn't get this verdict.
Who can confirm this? Might it be a false positive?

Disappointed: the reaper core dump after adding and removing vst3 or clap Vital on Linux is still there in 1.6.0 as it was on 1.5.5.
I can workaround by using it as "run as separated process", but I hoped they would have fixed at least this.
I'm not looking for additional features in Vital, just wanted it to be solid...

I think that just may be a valse positive. clamXav didn’t pick up anything here.

The "!ml" suffix for the antivirus match indicates Machine Learning, aka AI, aka "doesn't know shit"

I think that just may be a valse positive.
So it isn't just a false positive but a very false positive? Phew, that is reassuring!

Just a couple of other things of note. v1.6.0 file size is 13.5mb while v1.5.5 is 27.8mb....14.3 mb larger. It looks like it was created last September...7 months ago. And here's an Archichect comparison of the two:
vital comparison.png
I have no idea of what any of it means other than those are the viewable differences.

This screenshot might also explain why it won't run on Rastkovic's machine, which I'm guessing is runs an Intel CPU. After playing a dozen or so presets I'm really familiar with, I don't hear a diff between the two...so I guess staying on v1.5.5 is probably fine for Intel Macs. Dropping that support may explain the 14.3 mb diff.

It might have been nice if Mr. Tytel dropped a note somewhere on his website with a brief explanation regarding the new version...but that doesn't seem to be his MO these days.

It means that those are two different files from a developer called Matthew Tytel

The same file "VitalInstaller.pkg" [v1.6.0] is now no longer afflicted with a false positive at VIRUSTOTAL.COM.
It has been corrected meantime, so it seems. Good.

What has? And by Whom?

I can only assume that at Virustotal.com the one scanner that had the false positive has been rectified so it doesn't bark up the wrong tree like a mad dog. I don't think that Matt Tytel changed the VitalInstaller file, as the checksum stayed the same as before.

Ah yes. That was what I was inclined to assume.
