that's all i have regarding synths, that's why I asked what specifically are you looking for

Pretty much all have stacks/unisons, some have separate Pan/Tuning for unison voices, Twin3 just has "spread" which is both, which i guess could be broken down into tune/pan like others do it.

Pretty sure he meant per note to be randomly panned like how you could do it with Hive/Bazille or Serum (Random > Voices Pan/Pan) as a knob. You can't do random modulation in Twin 3 (random LFO is not it).

I'm not sure what you're talking about, but if you take an XLFO and set it to retrigger, free, and set the frequency to zero, you can then have the oscillators pan at random for each keypress, which ultimately does sound like a random voice spread. I just tried it again to make sure I wasn't misremembering and it was easy.

Oh my bad, thanks for correcting me, I didn't test it thoroughly enough. It was a demo. Kinda tedious but it's there so no need for a dedicated knob then.

Yeah, I don't understand why developers just don't let you use the unison spread knob when you're not in unison and have it just do double duty as a random voice spreader.

That is almost what I suggested. My suggestion was to move the whole unison knob and it's system to a dedicated modulation module that could do all kinds of things. That module could even have been "hard set in place", so just like it's now but with a modulation point that could be used to drag connections from. It would just have needed a few logic parameters to do flipflop, flip flip flop flop, etc. Then it could have been used for all kinds of cool things.

Camel Audio Alchemy had the most awesome possibilities as it provided so many note-on / gate triggered logic modules that you could combine in any which way you wanted for extremely precise per note modulation. They even included a polyphony counter system if I remember correctly.

Man.. this really is an awesome synth I keep forgetting to put more time into. Was messing around with note-on randomness and even though you don't really get any voice control over it, you can make some absolutely gorgeously analogue vibes with what is available.

Here is a little preset I made today:

As per usual, copy to your FF Twin 3 preset folder.

I used up almost all 100 modulation routings.. 90% of them are tiny modulation changes to various targets by note-on randomness, velocity and keyboard tracking. A very simple sound becomes quite textured, complex and nuanced (responds nicely to velocity too).

It sounds best when the filter isn't fully open. I used some oscillator sync shaping which always causes some grit but it behaves so nicely when filtered.

You can also drastically change the tonality and vibe of the preset simply by changing the filter character and by either increasing or lowering the oscillator volume levels going into the filters. Wish there was a simple Drive knob, as in Volcano, just to set the pre/post filter level balance.. and yes, of course I suggested that too during development. :?

I’ve been spending a few days with Twin 3 and honestly I’m pretty impressed. The sound quality is great and it feels very flexible for sound design.

I ended up making a video exploring some of its features and tones in case it helps anyone here.

There WILL be an update to Twin3 in the hopefully not too distant future which will vastly expand the preset library. I don't know the timeline for this but it is in the works. I'm currently going through my preset collection and trying to tidy up the majority of it and make them "release ready" (I've got over 250 presets to go through).

I'm also keeping my fingers crossed for some feature updates but on that front there are no news yet unfortunately.

I guess that will come sooner.
There are general updates dated yesterday (April 16th).

But they fixed the most annoying thing for me, that I have been complaining about for years.
So kudos to them for that:
Pro-Q 4, Pro-C 3, Pro-R 2 and Twin 3: Improved how the preset browser reacts when you hover over a folder and then move to the right to go inside the folder. Even when the movement is slightly diagonal, it keeps the current folder selected so you don't have to move in a straight horizontal line.

Twin3 is undoubtedly the most underrated synth IMO, one of the best analogue filter emulations (the bit that really matters) and is a pleasure to work with, so visual but uncluttered. It could definitely ship with better pre-sets (I bought pro expansion and Voyage pre-set packs and they were much better) but it is very easy to make your own.
