Can anyone suggest one? even if no other controls except the actual keybed is ok, it just must have aftertouch.
Re short 49...it can be a 49 key as long as the pitch and mod wheels are on the panel and not next to the keys. It makes them too long!

Look at Nektar Impact GXP series maybe, I have 61 key, but assume there are 49 as well.
- but sorry, seems to have mod and pitch wheels on the side
- but having them upwards will make keyboard deeper instead
But a synth like Behringer DeepMind 6, is 37 key with AT, and one used probably cost like a new Nektar.
- I've used synths as masterkeyboard many times over the years
What I miss in GXP is that no split feature, otherwise good action and AT.

I went with a ROLI Piano (no pitch or mod wheels) in order to get 49 keys in a tight spot (almost no clearance on either side). The only other viable alternative is a Keystep.

It's surprisingly difficult to find a good 37 key controller with aftertouch. I was looking for something short and simple, but ended up getting a Keylab49 — which has wheels at the side. Using a 37 key synth is an option when you have things like the Modal Carbon 8 with a Fatar keyboard.
